well had a great evening last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took off the rocker arms, took out the spark plugs and disconnected the coil. I Wanted to turn it over for a while to make damn sure no oil was getting up there... I have to say this was a 100 to one shot, never thought it would work, only trying it because Steve told me to, (next step remove the head, check gasket, then move on the the cam bearings). so I stood on the frame rails so I could see the top of the head and turn the key. I started counting and much to my amazement I got to 8 and oil started pouring out the oil hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bounce::bounce:
I damn near fell off the frame at this point.... I have to say I was jumping for joy!!!! :bounce2::bounce2::bounce2::clap:

here is a pic of the oil coming out of the hole....

so I knew now I was getting oil to the top... started looking at the rocker arm assembly.... blew compressed air into the hole and nothing.... started sliding the rocker posts back and forth and realized that the engine builder had reassembled the rod that carries the oil backwards... so the main oil hole lined up about with the #3 post and not the 4th.... as you can see from the pics it is backward.... front is the back... :meh:

I decided that it had to be the engine builder that took it apart because there appears to be no wear on the rod at all... it was greased really well and since I ran it for a total of maybe 5-6 min I can not believe it did any harm... and if it would have been the PO (remember what the engine looked like before) think you would be able to see some wear. but there are no wear or heat marks on it... so all I did was take everything off and keep it all in order.... turn the rod around and put it all back together. I did not have enough time to put it back on the engine and start it all up again to actually see the oil going through there... but at least now I am almost 100% sure it will.... as when I blow air up there it comes out of the proper holes... :D

I have to say!!!!! it was a great day!!!!! Good things can happen!!! now I am hung over:hillbilly:!!!!! probably put that back on tonight and make sure it all works....

My dad and I are going to work on finishing up the wiring this weekend in the shop, so dont know if I will get anything done on the truck... got to kind of clean things up so I can get ready for that... so we are not tripping over stuff..... -25 below today!!!! sucks!!!:beer::beer::beer:

Glad you figured it out bud!

Clean that oil up from the top of the cylinder head and out of the rocker stand bolt hole before you put it back together....

I will thanks!!! call you this weekend!!

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap: Damn That is the nicest build I have ever seen in a personal shop. You should send that to 4WheelToyotaOwners and do a cover story on your rig. Great Job!!!!

do you know the torque specs for those bolts?

10mm bolt- 22-32 ft-lb

8mm bolt- 15-21 ft-lb

From Aug 1980 2F engine repair manual
Pub. No. 36104E

Section 3-19

Just wondering on your shop, did you put a footing down under the walls? Your in Minn. right? Must have pretty deep frost depths. I'm in Idaho and we have to have footings 24" min. Nice looking set up though and keep it coming on the build-up...

I just read the whole thing too. There were a few pages when I forgot that this was about a LC. I was totally getting into the ice fishing and hunting and all that. Nice Rig

in my area we are not reqiured to have a footing on a garage type building. now if I was going 2 stories or somthing such as that I would have wanted that..... I do however have what I would call "deeper edges aprox 8" deep" on my slab to help support the main weight of the building.... if you look back before I poured the slab think you can see what I am talking about...

well had a great weekend last weekend working on the shop... almost done... we put up alot more pipe and ran more wires.... planning on working on it again this weekend hoping to get done...

had a string of bad mishaps latly... Glass blew out of my fireplace last week... blowing hot glass everywhere... dont know why... was not that hot... anyway that is in the glass company getting fixed.. no one got hurt or burned so that was good...

Came home monday and my sewer is frozen... Fxxx!!!!!!!!!!!!! water all over my back yard and it is -45 below with wind chill and my friend and I were out there for 4-5 hours running both hot and cold water down the drain field to try to un freeze it... never been so cold in my life.... and we did not get it unfrozen... so had to get my tank pumped and will have to conserve water and keep getting it pumped until spring.... guess it could be worse.... but could be better also....

hope all is well with you guys!!
