here is a pic of me in the combine picking sun flowers seeds... that thing is amazing.... it runs on GPS and steers itself through the field... all you have to do is raise and lower the head depending on the height of the flowers.... really cool..... computer tells you bushels per acre the moister content... and a bunch of other stuff I dont pretend to understand...

but the machine cost more than my house... and they have a few of them laying around...

This is my home away from home on some of my hunting trips... My dad and I built it like 2 or 3 years ago... the wheels drop down so you can pull it out on the ice and drop it down... has 2 bunks and stove... my dad built all the cabinets... works really nice... we built it for the winter fishing so it is warmer than any RV out there... been on the ice at -20 below and can hang out in a t-shirt

Thought I would also take a few shots of our hunting cabin in northern MN.... it is built from native trees that were hand cut and scribed to all fit together... My parents bought the cabin about 20 years ago but my dad has spend countless hours making it what it is today... all interior work was done by him... including pine celings, oak flooring, pine cabinets, we cleaned and bleached all the logs and treated them... done lots of work to the property in general to make it a great place for hunting or just getting away...

FYI... no power, generator only, no plumbing... we do have a well but have to go outside to get water... the sink you see in the pics if a drain only sink...

got a surprise call from Poser yesterday wanting to see if he could crash on my couch last night... as he was on his way up this way on some sort of adventure. He did not get up here until 1:45 AM so we sat and talked and had a beer in the shop for a while (did not talk about LC which was nice for a change)... although we did not get to hang out but for a few hours it was great to see him again!!!! Made plans for him to come up either in Dec or Jan to fire up my 2F for the first time.... I will be glad to have the experience there!!!

He brought with him the first snow that stayed on the ground for us this year along with the first below zero temps.... thanks man!!! :flipoff2:

That is about all I have been doing... wiring still not done in the shop... I do have heat and the lights are hooked up... My dad needs to help me with the rest... we both have been gone hunting so much that we just have not gotten around to it... once that is done I will finish moving everything in and post up the final garage building pics...

Really hope to be able to post up some LC stuff soon.... been a while...

Still taking things day to day on everything else... just trying to stay above water still seems to be a daily struggle.... always looking forward to tomorrow...

Well it has been along time since I have posted about my Lc... well I wanted to be able to say I worked on it in my new shop before the end of 2007... I had a xmas party to break in the shop it was a great time.... think about 50-60 people there.... Thanks Loren for donating the refrigerator for the shop!! Couple pics before I tore everything off the LC and started working again..

So I tore all the sheet metal off and had help taking the body off also... I was very happy to have so much room to work... I still can not get used to that fact... :D I then tore into the second knuckle rebuild and changed all the gaskets, new bearings and all that fun stuff.. also upgraded to disc breaks as the other side... Millhouse was here to help me on the other side, but I was all alone getting this side done... and since it has been a while I did not remember much about what I was doing... I again used Guppy’s thread (it helps alot, thanks man) only had to call Poser a few times... with some random questions.. Think it turned out really well… oh yea and I finished running all the break lines so that is done all the way around...

One question is that the calipers sit so tight on the rotor that it is very very difficult to turn the wheel…. What could I have screwed up on??? The pistons are in all the way and the break shoes are in correct. Yea the rotor has some surface rust on but not much at all… anyone have ideas????

Is it rubbing equally on both sides of the rotor? or more on one side than the other. As long as it is rubbing equally, I'd think you'd be fine. They'll wear evenly and wear down over the first couple of miles of driving. The only thing is if they get over heated and warp the rotors before the pads are worn down.

By the way...looks all good...the cruiser, the shop...the fridge :)

they are even on both sides.... however it is very very difficult to move.... like it takes 2 people... to turn it with the wheel on..... :steer: I thought about the wearing down factor but I really think these may be too tight..

Well I figured out the deal with the caliper… I ended up taking off the other one so I could see if for some reason they were different, or if for some reason the brake shoes were different… tried both sets of shoes on the driver side caliper and they worked… neither worked on the other one… so I got out the tape measure and noticed that one caliper's opening was ¼” smaller than the other one…. So I knew that was my problem… I ended up calling Steve as I bought these from him.. He knew right away what was going on as soon as I told him about the size difference.

Seems in the confusion of when I picked up all these parts we grabbed one landcruiser caliper and mini truck caliper by mistake…. Hahhaha….. well anyway Steve is getting me the correct caliper and also sending me some gaskets for my hubs. I was so relieved that I did not do something wrong in putting this knuckle together…

Thanks again Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :beer::beer::beer:

also did a few other things this weekend.... I put the rear half of the wiring harness in, got all the plumbing run for the clutch so that is all done... then moved on to the dreaded tie rod ends... I had bought a 555 kit from Cool Cruisers a while back so I had them already... you may have seen my post on the 40 section on how I could not get the old ones off.... I had not installed my vice on my bench yet, so that was the first order of business... took an hour or so by the time I drilled all the holes and what not... had to get the big ass pipe wrench out and really really crank on those tie rods to get them off but they all came off and new ones were installed probably took a good 4 hours however :-).... I was as careful as I could be to get them in about the same places as the old ones but I know there will be some adjustments that I need to do later... Installed the steering linkage and the new stabilizing shock also.... I still have everything loose on there probably tighten it all down tonight...

a few pics

Swap the stabilizer and the drag link at the pitman arm bud.....drag link should be on the rearmost hole in the pitman arm......

Glad you are back in the shop pal......You need that.

Sorry about the caliper confusion. Will get that remedied this week.
