I bought Shane's leather kit in 2007 I think. Still 100% condition too. I kept all of the OEM leather seats and have it in a box. The drivers seat wasn't that bad and had no rips or tears, I just wanted new leather.

Well..., no response for about a month and no seat covers. If I knew that they were coming and had a estimated eta, I could plan accordingly. But, I'm not interested in waiting months and months.
Has anyone heard from Shane... recently???
Thinking of just reversing the charges and having a local upholstery shop do the work.
Any suggestions?

I saw him pop in on the forum a week or so ago to post an ad for new cutting board tailgate pieces.

As for myself, I ended up putting an order in with leatherseats.com. 2 rows + console + 4 armrests + install kit for just under $1100, shipping included. That was for their upgraded leather package which has more leather than their base level, and is apparently the only level they offer for the lx450. From my research about them, these leathers are most likely coming from Katzkin as the actual manufacturer, where Shane used to source his leathers from according to some years old posts I found. I don't know if the leathers he's selling now still come from Katzkin or somewhere else.

Got my samples quickly from leatherseats.com, my selected color was a perfect match, and communication was great. Total turnaround from order to it being at my door when I get home tonight was 2 weeks.

I ordered seat heaters from Amazon and JDM 80 series seat heater switches from cruiserparts.net. Spare Ebay steering wheel and shifter knob sent off to Craft Customs today for new leather. Cost for both of those will be $350 plus shipping.

Finally...hate to kind of thread jack on this group buy thread, but seriously Shane, if you're going to jerk people around then you should expect posts like this.

I spoke with Shane on the phone about a week ago when my leathers were getting packed for shipping. My leathers arrived yesterday. I am still waiting for the foam cushions and seat heaters. If you have the patience hang in there, the leather feels great...now if I can get the rest of the parts I'll get it installed.

That's good news.
How long did it take to get yours. Placed my order mid April.

While Shane may be a nice guy, his customer service and communications could improve greatly. It's really not too much to expect a timely email response or communication. I ordered a set of front seat covers for my 100 from him. They are a nice product and did arrive, however the communication was lacking and there was some confusion with the shipping and a very small amount of money that never got resolved. So a bit frustrating from a consumers end.

Another package arrived today, my seat heaters and upper door vinyl arrived. Shane also threw in a really cool t-shirt which was unexpected, but appreciated. I also have a tracking number for my tailgate cutting board, should arrive on Wednesday. Just waiting for the seat foams to come into Toyota, Shane says they have been back ordered.

Metric TLC /Labrak is a small operation, where logistics are being handled by the designer, who is also the fabricator...you get the point.
If you are waiting on parts, but haven't called, sent a text or email'd Shane, then you should as that is the best way to get a hold of him, as he may not be actively monitoring this thread.

I have only received email response from Shane. But, no recent responses to my regular emails asking for status. I am not using this thread to contact him. He does not list a phone # on his web site and does not provide phone in the signature block of his emails. He doesn't even list his first/last name. I do not know him and believe everyone saying he is great guy, but his business skills suck. A month ago he said he was hoping to ship my order on Friday. If I don't get a response by the end of the week I'm reversing the charges and going elsewhere. This the type of resposn I get, I asked when my order would ship:

My only advertising is on MUD and all seat covers are made to order. When I did the 40's seat covers I did stock them and then the market crashed and I had a lot of inventory sitting.
As for as the leather I do have 1/2 in stock and its only due to make up time cards for payroll. We run hard and full tilt and not a production, but craftsman so its not fast paced as mistakes get made. Example is the the 80/LX are close and mistakes get made. Many owners want a specific look of the LX or LC and assume they interchange, but they do not. When covered they look almost the same. The cushions and seat frames are not even close. Even though I specified what model on the site and state they are not then same I get one person every few weeks that makes the mistake and they find out when installing on a weekend and their rug is now down for weeks as we have to get the other back and its now inventory and then try and rush the correct one out.
I wish it was easy, I don't tell anyone just how crazy it is. I just smile and say yes we can do it. My girls want to kill me most of the time.
I hope on shipping Friday as we have that week full and shipping many out.
I'm still deleting emails from the breach. My phone is set up to push every 15 min. So every 15 min I was getting 50-100 emails from spam to replies. It was nuts.
Best,

FWIW: Sounds like the same type of response/excuses I got when asking about my order...

Here's the latest:

After no response and no seat covers I reversed the charges (gotta love Amex).
The day after I do this there is a box at my front door. However, covers are the wrong color and my $210 drivers seat foam is not included.
I email Shane and get no response, as expected.
I am not willing to wait months hoping that Shane might get around to correcting the problem.
Amex says it is the sellers responsibility to provide shipping label if he wants wrong covers returned and I will not be charged for wrong covers and missing foam (gotta love Amex).
I want to do the right thing, but Shane makes it hard. I will give him a few weeks to provide shipping label for return. If I get no response and no shipping label (which I expect) I will sell the covers here on Mud for free +shipping. If the buyer wants to pay Shane, great... no longer my problem.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND buying from Metric TLC. I don't think his service, communication and business skills could be worse.

I have ordered seat covers from leatherseats.com. They immediately sent me five color samples to choose from and they actually answer the phone and reply to email. Will have new covers in two weeks :)

Has anyone on here used them before? Please post pics, would like to see how they turn out.

I am not an expert in the area of return policy but if you decide to sell or free to a good home the covers provided incorrectly by Shane I believe you will be liable for the charge. As long as you return the incorrectly shipped item to the seller then you should be assured of not being charged.

Having purchased from Shane several times I believe he will make it right by you. Just my .02c

I received my seat foams the other day. I do know that the passenger side cushions were on limited availability and only became available about a, week ago. The cushions ship out directly from Toyota, whereas the leathers all come from Shane. I am sure that Shane will make it right, but I would highly suggest you don't give away the covers you have as 1 of 2 things will happen.

1) either Amex will eventually say you are responsible to return the merchandise, in which case your SOL.

2) Amex will give you back your money and then a Small vendor that makes quality products for out cruisers will be in the negative and may decide to pack up shop...I've seen it happen too many times.

"The small vendor that makes quality products for our cruisers" needs to start running his business better, have better customer service and communication skills.

What can he do to make it right? He billed my credit card two months ago. He is impossible to get a response from and shipped the wrong covers without the foam. All I ask for is that the items I ordered and paid for be shipped to me. A little communication would go a long way...

I'm good with Amex. Not worried about that.
Why would he not indicated on his web site that foam is limited availability? Again, it is reasonable to expect he is selling/charging for items he has in inventory and can ship to buyer.
I have yet to see any quality in any form (service, product, etc...) from Shane. I would discourage anyone from ordering from him.

I agree it may not go over well to sell for free. I will just toss them in the trash as I do not expect any response from Shane.

Shane, Please give me a call (229) 221-4659. I tried to send a message on the website contact page, but it was returned. Need leather for front row 2003 TLC. Thanks, Keith

Here's my .02. For the cost of these leathers, the quality in service and product needs to be there. MetricTLC is not selling anything that can't be obtained elsewhere, for less $, and therefore needs to step up its game. If they can't, they should shut down or deserve to go out of business. It's BS in my opinion to coast on the goodwill of this forum while delivering crappy customer service.

I'm still waiting for the FSM I lent him...in March.
He emailed me a month ago and said he got bit by a snake (yes, a snake), but was going to return it...
I'm sssssssstill waiting!
