A couple of weeks ago the throttle plunger was sticking causing the engine to rev incredibly high and on inspection found the throttle cable fraying. So I replaced the cable and got the rebuild kit.

So when I got the carburetor rebuilt. I actually had this connection reversed. But it was also leaking at the seam between the top and bottom. So I took it back out and rebuilt it again and replaced the gasket with the other gasket that came in the kit and repaired some threads that were pulled out.

I have some more gasket material so I made yet an other gasket and put it back in only to realize that it is still leaking.

I am so frustrated now.

It sounds like your fuel level is too high-recheck your float level
I thought that too tonight on my third attempt to rebuild. So I adjusted the spring but I don't think I cut out the gasket very well.

This is where that window on the Toyota carb comes in handy lol
Unfortunately this is a Rochester carburetor from the P.O. that I just kept on it

Now here is a question can a carb for a 2F Fit onto a F intake and motor 🤔

But the problem you have should be ez to figure out. Take the top off and check the needle and seat, make sure you put the gasket on the seat? Maybe the needle is binding so it can't shut off the fuel or the float needs to be adjusted

I echo the sentiment of those above...you will get it. However, it might be good to have on-hand a factory correct Aisen carburetor waiting in the wings.

It looks like your carb is a 1 barrell ? The 2f carb is a 2 barrel so no- unless you change the manifold
This statement is incorrect. Your 40 is a 1969 with a F145 motor correct? Those have a 2 barrel type intake manifold with a adapter to one of the worst 1 barrel carbs Toyota made.
I would either get a later 2 barrel Aisin carb and rebuild that or get a Chinese 2 barrel knock off and run that. I have had good luck with those and they are only like $75.

It is a 69 but the build date is 11/68. I have seen some on Amazon but was wondering how they work with my air cleaner duct and the idle solenoid on it.

My LC came with a Rochester free of charge. Soon swapped it out for an aftermarket offering @75$. Ran it for two years without drama. Found a box of carb, correct 76, shipped off to JimC for a rebuild. My aftermarket is still sitting patiently on the shelf should an emergency arise. 75$, that’s roughly a night of micro brew IPA’s ??!! 😉

I have used several repop Aisin style carbs. They have the fuel shut off solenoid. I have made adapters to use the stock air filter housing too.
Do you have any pictures. A local friend has given me a AISIN 1 barrel that needs to be cleaned up and the sight glass is broken and I would have to figure out how to hook everything up, or I have a new carb coming that I will also have to figure out.

Well it seems as though I End up with doing a lot of forced upgrades lately. My side cover gasket has been leaking like a siv. Come to find out the gasket was broken in several places.

When I was taking the plug wires off number one wire separated so I had to get new wires and it solved an apparent miss fire.

Not to mention that the carb had been giving me fits. But I have a tach and dwell that I am going to tackle that sometime this long weekend.

Yes I will admit it. I do attend YouTube U. on occasion. The other day I found a video on how to tune a 2F motor carburetor. The other day I had to borrow a tach and dwell from a coworker and today I adjusted the carb.

This was idle before at warm temp. It was idling fast and when I went to accelerate it would choke out and want to stall. So I watched this video Toyota 2F Aisan Carb Idle Mixture Adjustment:

This is after the adjustment and she is a whole lot happier.
