So this happened today I was driving her around and getting my son from a friend's house and we were at an intersection and I totally caught someone in the stare. After he realized that I caught him he rolled down his window and started talking to me he asked how much I would sell it for. I said he couldn't afford it. My wife said that I was being a bit snobby.
 
I saw this on Instagram and thought it was too funny not to put here.
 
Well what can I say today is a day mared with tragedy. She had a heart attack this morning on her way into work and there is no resesitating her. The other day when I did the pushrod cover gasket I checked the oil and it was fine. There started to be a noise that gradually got louder but would come and go. Today as it started I turned off of the road and she gave up the ghost. Her beloved 55 year old F heart motor died. 😔😭

Sorry to hear that.... one door closes, another opens. Is there a 2UZ behind that other door???
 
This is an opportunity for a good thread. A nice Mosely 2 F or 2UZ or ??
 
So I checked locally and was able to find a 2F that is still good for under a grand which would be good and gets me going earlier rather then later. But also he has a 2FE freshly rebuilt with just a couple thousand on the clock with a new H42 5 speed transmission and transfer case for 5k. My problem is that right now as it happens financially neither is within reach perse.
 
So I am weighing the options of just putting in a 2F or going the full montey and going to the 2FE with an h42 5 speed and transfer case. would i need to change the drive shaft lengths in order to do this.
 
h55/5-speed require a split Tcase. I am willing to bet it is split Tcase

If you can get a 2fe with the 5-speed and tcase for 5 grand as I understand the above. I'd do that even with the extra wiring with the 2fe.

I just did my engine - but if I had that option back in July I might have jumped that route. As I said in my thread - e brake not on tcase - so you would need to get it on the rear axle at some point. Hell, I'm considering it if you don't.

For the rock crawling you do in AZ, seems like a good option in my unsolicited opinion.
 
Are you sure your engine is smoked? Did it seize, throw a rod etc? Can you get it up in the air and drop the pan? This is the optimist in me asking…😁

If it’s the H55F it will work in an early 40 series. But you will need a Split case Tcase as mentioned above. Which, more than likely is the combo your source probably has. Tunnel mods due shifter location issues. The 55F is longer, not sure exactly by how much, there are really good threads here to guide you through that process. But you will have a parking brake adaptation to work through and drive shaft mods as well. If you go this route snag a 2f bell housing if you don’t already have one.

When she stopped I checked the oil and it didn't hit the dip stick I added some oil and tried to crank it and it was seized.
 
Vally Hybrids allegedly has a top plate for the 5 speed now that moves the shifter back to the 4 location (bottom) vs the 60 series location (top). Very few 40 top plates existed in the wild to model off of, but George got so not a lot of tunnel mods (TCase still needs mod).
 
Whether I just stuck a 2F in it, or changed around the drivetrain would depend on how I used the truck. If you putter around a few times a year, just stick the 2F in it. If you pile 10K miles/year on it, then consider something different.
