She had a heart attack this morning on her way into work and there is no resesitating her. The other day when I did the pushrod cover gasket I checked the oil and it was fine. There started to be a noise that gradually got louder but would come and go. Today as it started I turned off of the road and she gave up the ghost. Her beloved 55 year old F heart motor died.![]()

it is a 5 speed with a "new" tcase so i don't know.H42 4 psd or H55 (F) 5 psd? Split case or 1 piece?
When she stopped I checked the oil and it didn't hit the dip stick I added some oil and tried to crank it and it was seized.Are you sure your engine is smoked? Did it seize, throw a rod etc? Can you get it up in the air and drop the pan? This is the optimist in me asking…
If it’s the H55F it will work in an early 40 series. But you will need a Split case Tcase as mentioned above. Which, more than likely is the combo your source probably has. Tunnel mods due shifter location issues. The 55F is longer, not sure exactly by how much, there are really good threads here to guide you through that process. But you will have a parking brake adaptation to work through and drive shaft mods as well. If you go this route snag a 2f bell housing if you don’t already have one.
