That is a great back story….😎 Someone wasn’t happy with the way the romance turned out and got a little creative.

Just so everyone knows how “Dick” got his name. My wife and I were joking about this door had to stay as it is, so maybe I would make a swinging bar door with it or something rather than refinishing it. Later that evening our twin granddaughters came in and asked about our new Kruiser. My wife quickly responded with “Dick the Kruiser” due to the door.

Little update on Dick.

I’ve not done any of the baseline work, yet. I did have a few minutes yesterday, Father’s Day, to roll it out to the edge of the barn and raise the hood. With the hood all the way up I was able to see the back of the carb and noticed a rather large crack on the vacuum line to the PCV valve! Geez! How did I miss that!

I had a few feet of line and replaced it and the brake booster line. Big surprise, that really helped!

I know this is a long shot, but I’m in search of an original air cleaner along with the hoses and horn. If anyone has any leads or one lying around.

Thanks for all your help, Mud! Have a wonderful day!

Also, I just read all of @Aloha Jen thread rebuilding her 75’ 40! Wow, hopefully Dick can be that awesome someday!

Great to meet you today, thanks for the doors.
Do you still need an air cleaner? I have at least one, not sure what year it fits.
Likewise! You’re most welcome!

I found an air cleaner, but the round transition intake end has been cut off. If you have one that’s intact I would love to purchase it. Let me know.

Don't wait on getting those baseline numbers. You'll find it so much more rewarding driving something proper. I drove for years with my choke pulled partially out to keep it running. What was I waiting for? 😆 Don't get me wrong, there are still several systems that I've yet to go through myself.

@DaKruiser You’re gonna find that just driving your 40 after you have it running reliably, is THAT AWESOME.

For what it’s worth. Back in ‘74 I bought that Holley from Downey Toyota and a Rochester from Man-A-Fre and of course the stock Toyota carb from being a new 40. Minimal differences but I never had a problem .
My own current ‘75 had a Weber on it when I got it. It ran pretty good but warmed up slowly and would cough on acceleration. Turned out to be the HEI distributor timing not advanced enough. I did take the step you’re thinking about and went to the Holley Sniper EFI and absolutely love it. Startup is immediate!

Good luck
