Hey thanks! And yes I am in California right now, headed to the beach to take a drive up pacific coast highway, then we are gonna spend sometime at mammoth lakes. On the way back we are going to cruise through Utah and Colorado and try and find some cool wheeling spots! Well that is if the snow has melted...
sweet im itching to hit the road myself again. my last trip was in august/September I've always taken the 40 on my trips (5 cross country so far) but if I get the 12ht done in the next few weeks I may drive it up to Calgary to visit Banff.

Ya this is my first "big trip" in my cruiser other than when I was 12 and we drove it from North Carolina to Texas from my grandfathers house. Despite going slow and burning gas, it is way better than road tripping in a regular rig! And I will definitely post more pictures as we move along!

Well we made it home in one piece! Decided against going through colorado due to funds and also because I found out that the ol 2f doesn't really like living at high altitude in it's current state.
The only issues that I ran into was a set of fouled plugs while we were up at mammoth lakes in California (I'm assuming it was due to the high altitude at over 8,000 feet), and the transfer case seal where the lever goes in started leaking. Other than that the rig ran great!
Over the course of 2 weeks we went close to 5,000 miles and saw a lot of cool stuff. My favorite part of the trip was the few days that we spent at mammoth lakes, I would live there in a heart beat! We saw a few fj62's, a couple of fj60's and even an 80 while we were there which was pretty awesome!
I cannot wait to get the 12h-t plugged in so that my range per tank increases from approximately 250 miles to around 400!

Little update. Finally started tinkering with the 12h-t.
Tore it down to the long block to inspect the piston tops. Everything is looking good so far. I'm going to take off the oil pan tomorrow and check the crank out.
A good sign during the tear down was when I pulled the water pump off there was green radiator fluid not rust. Also the PO used Toyota filters and belts.
After I check the clearances and make sure that everything is in spec I will get new gaskets and put it back together. Hoping to get it done mid August.

Parts pile waiting to get cleaned up for install:
Judging by the head bolts, I'd say this is the first time it's been off.
It sucked labeling all of the vacuum hoses, but it will make my life a lot easier when I put them back on.
The injector tips looked a bit gummed especially #6. The top of the piston was the only one that was wet. I will probably end up rebuilding them for piece of mind.

It will be man. Honestly it seems so surreal because I have been drooling over having a diesel in my rig since i saw Mikes at a roundup.

Loan me $2500 and it will have 37s in a week... Haha. On a serious note that is going to be my next upgrade after I get this diesel plugged in. I did get a 37 MTR as a spare on Craigslist which is a step foreword.

Yep I cannot wait. Going to start my parts ordering spree and empty my bank account Monday so that I can get the ball rolling! I will make a trip to Austin to show you when I'm done!
