When is the next time you change your gear oil? I see lots of people with cut/turn move the fill plug on the diff cover higher up, I think that would a good idea.
I changed it last year when i did all of the suspension work. I'd imagine that it would be a pain in the arse to drill a hole big enough for the fill bolt. I just jacked my rig up with the highlift and put the gear oil in, perk of having F&R bumpers. But if I ever have the pinions out in the future I might look into re-locating the fill hole...

Quick update. Finished my traction bar this weekend. Still need to clean it up and paint it, but it's bolted up and working right now. Had to use the generator welder since my mig has a broken trigger. It felt good to burn some rods though.

I could tell a difference in first and second gear. There was more grab, and no pinion movement. I had my dad get down and check the movement while I was in 1st gear and he said there was no movement on the pinion. The only negative thing that I have noticed so far is the rear is stiffer whenever I hit a bump, but I will take that over blown u-joints any day.

Also took the second leaf out of my rear packs and put them in the front to reduce body roll in corners, and a also to level it out a bit more. Turned out nice.

Added a gusset where the two tubes join for extra strength. Ran 1 bead w/ 6011 and a 7014 pass on top to make it look pretty:

Looking good man! I think I will be doing one soon and yours is a good one to work off

Thanks Ty!

Ya I definitely would if your gonna be playing in the rocks. I tried to document it as much as possible because when I was researching how to build one, I could never really find a good picture/ explanation on how to get it done.

Shoot me a PM if you want anymore pics or measurements!

I'm really pumped to join the club! Thanks again for all of your help figuring this out. I will be calling you probably a lot once I get this swap going

Nice. Very nice. I want details, where you got it from and all that.

I got it from Steve at landcruisers direct in Missouri. He bought the rig for the cable lockers and stuff the body was rusted out. Pretty sweet deal.

I got every nut, bolt, and bracket that I need to get it in. All the accessories, gas tank, radiator, a/c, tach, etc.

I won't have time to swap it in until July, but at least I have something to drool over for the next month and a half.

I guess our rigs are going to be "twins" now lol.

Dude I'm happy for you. We're in Corpus Christi in the storm right now. Headed to PINS in a few.

Thanks Mike. You know first hand that I've been drooling over the thought of a diesel for a few years. Patience has finally paid off. Have fun at PINS, I wish I could have joined y'all!

about fxxxing time! congrats, McGuire!
