i love that red truck. I too now need a traction bar and a rear bumper. it never ends.
Red is the best without a doubt (not biased at all:cool:) Ya your right it never ends... Neither does the empty hole in my wallet from this hobby.

A couple of things..

1) if it ends, it starts again with another cruiser..
2) not a hobby, a way of life..

J,
Hopefully I don't have to worry about finding another cruiser, at least not a replacement. And I agree with #2, trying to help my dad figure out his carburetor/fuel pump issue on his 60 so I've been inhaling gas fumes for the past couple hours. Doesn't help with typing.

Mj, when you got your high steer, did you go for the 25mm upgrade? Also, did you get a IFS steering box to install the kit according to the install instructions from Marlin Crawler? Wanting to order it but the Warden is putting me on lock down right now.

Hey Ryan sorry I didn't get back to you, I didn't see your post. Yes I went with the 25mm upgrade kit because that is the only one I could find since they are sold out at marlin. And no i didn't get the ifs box. I think that might be for hiluxes, I just used an fj80 Pittman arm.

Went wheeling today at hidden falls, sadly these are the only pics that I could muster.. Definitely will get more next time! The last one is just for s***s and giggles, the tundras rear spring snapped and he destroyed his axle.

Enjoy!

Ya it was a good time! Wish you could have made it. Definitely was a minority out there with the 60.. There was a couple of 80s that I went with and then an FJ cruiser. And of course we were swimming in a sea of jeeps. Thankfully I got away with only a dent in my rock slider, the tundra on the other hand was not so lucky. I give the guy props though he went on some pretty gnarly trails.

I've done hidden falls a few times, last time I went I was lucky I didn't roll it. Some trails are too hard for the rigs. I'm slowly transitioning mine to be an overlander vehicle but maintaining crawling capabilities for when I absolutely need it.
I want to pass it on to my son like yours was passed on to you. We're gonna try to set up another beach trip, I'll let you know when so hopefully you can join us.

Give me some details on the tundra, how and where did he break it and how did he make it out?

I always hate when i dont have a million pictures taken of me, but i am a pretty self centered a******...
Great pics tho! Looks like a fun time. and that tundra has a good story to tell haha

I agree with Mike 100% here. I spend way too much on my rigs to just tear them up... Goss is for BLM expedition, camping, and getting me out of a bind when needed. I still love the rock crawling and hard trail aspect, just not on my dime anymore. Well until I get the first scratch or two, then I WILL EDIT THIS STATEMENT!

I'm a picture freak too. My wife always says... "Haven't you looked at that picture 100 times before...?" My response..."Yes, but something might have changed.."

HA!

I know what you mean, some of those trails are pretty sketchy. I know the limits of my rig and my driving skills and wouldn't not put myself in a situation to mess anything up. I took a few bypasses on the "North Pole" trail which is the one on the fence line mainly because there had been 2 other 60s that have rolled on that one and I am superstitious lol. Your son is going to be one lucky guy when he gets big red! And I'd be down for a beach trip, hopefully it's in the summer. And yes I think the tundra was on blocks, I didn't get close enough to look but I am pretty sure his axle just rolled causing the spring and d.s to pop. He was on a level 5 when it happened.

wtf is a tundra doing on a level 5  ? I take the bypass on the north pole just because I know 2 land cruisers rolled there, and since I went alone the first time, I didn't have anyone to guide me. Here's on of the videos, (not my finest moments) coming down a steep hill with really bad brakes and I stupidly popped it in 2nd gear instead of 1st low. It should be noted that the wrangler that went after me broke his drive shaft and was stuck down there. He was winched out. Tha camera doesn't do it justice, but that was a very steep descent.

The beach trip will be in summer for sure, trying to accommodate most people's work/school schedules and of course the world cup.

I have no clue what he was doing.. damn that looks like it was sketchy, you were doing a little 3 wheeling coming up! And awesome I have no excuse to not make the beach trip this go around. Let me know when a date is set!

Alright guys I need some opinions. When my truck is on a level surface it leans to the front quite a bit and it has been annoying for quite a while now.. I really don't want to remove any springs out of the rear because I like the way it handles and feels on and off road. The front shackle angle is more compressed than the rear and I am thinking that I can relocate the front spring hanger foreword more to correct the angle. Tell me what you guys think of this, and if it will mess with my castor angle and handling. Here are some pics:

A few options come to mind even though I like the stance as it sits now..

1) Remove leaf in rear to level you out.
2) AAL in front
3) Longer shackles in front.. ( I did this on my last 60 and needed some shims to correct the caster and loose wagon effect it created..)
4) Add a storage box and the ass will drop an inch or so when loaded...

I recommend #2 or #4 ( in that order for me), that is what my plans are for Goss to level him up. (But I hope I am not sitting too level, if that makes sense. I like the ass up a little on 60/62, just not "stink bugged" like it is on mine now.

Just my .02

J, thanks for the reply. I have an add a leaf in the front right now so that marks that one off of the list. I have been thinking on a storage box for the rear, but haven't gotten around too it. I have a pretty big tool box in the back and carry quite a bit of spare parts with me all the time. I know the wood would add weight but probably enough to make it sag down. I don't want to add longer shackles, since I payed $120 for the ome's lol. So it looks like my only viable options are either take out a leaf in the rear, or move the front spring hanger forward to correct the angle. Does the front look to compressed? Or is the rear too steep? That will pretty much be the deciding factor on what I do. If the steep angle in the front will cause a stiff ride then I won't want to do that.
