This is the official UC trip to the Cove in Tennessee.

This is a moderate to difficult ride where body damage is very possible, getting stuck is very possible, breaking a CV is very possible, arriving to camp after dark is very possible. Ask me how I know.

These trails are much like the olden' days of Whee. Only a couple of access points and very long backtracking to get off the trails. We will only have one meeting time on Friday morning at 11:30CST. A couple guys are arriving later, under their own navigation, Friday evening.

Attending
BMThiker - Fri
radioridge - Fri
pillguy - Fri evening
ZombieResponseUnit - ???

Here's the meeting spot for Friday 11:30EST (10:30CST) with directions from where I-24W begins in Chattanooga (at the I-75N split).
The meeting spot is a BP station just past the Dairy Queen near downtown Jasper. We will gas up and pick up any last minute snacks/drinks there.

Tentative for me. Have to see what the wife has planned as it is my birthday weekend (March 25)

Rick, are these akin to what we did when we went or more? I think the GX will be fine, but where does the body damage come in? Rocks? Trees?

I'll be there  can't wait some of the pics I have seen look awesome.

Hey Rick, do you think a stock 45 with 33's and opens, but piloted by a skilled drive could do the trail :D

Who are you going to get to drive?

Dan, we will be on the same trails you took the Avocado. We have found some additional sections you did not see that can produce pin striping. Some trails are tighter than others and trees and rocks can play into that. I'm not trying to scare anyone off from attending this event - just no whiners please.

JP, as long as you have recovery points or a winch, it should not be too bad. Bertha has done a lot of these trails and she's open on 33's. The steep sections require a little more HP, so if you feel confident about your power then you should be fine.
As always, this is steeper than it appears

After a good rain, things are completely different. Pack all your stuff in dry bags.

well obviously tops on my list was Chuck :hillbilly:

Damn straight...who needs modern age s*** like lockers and stubby tires....do you think when they decided to explore America they had that pansy crap....no, they just got in and went....don't need no stinkin lockers!

yep that is it exactly JP. Delete as you feel fit.

Awesome that place reminds me of out west with how rock the trails are  Also I was under the impression that this area was very "hush, hush" but if that isn't the case I'll leave up the link for those interested in going to get and idea of the terrian.

Rick, I am in if I can get free...not worried a bit about the trails :)

Looks like the kind of trails that I like, the only bad part is it is so far away.
You UC guys figure out how many hours it is for you, then add 3 1/2 hours.
I'll have to let you know when it gets closer.

Parts of it. This guy started off in Prentice Cooper State Park, then connected to the Cove via a couple paved roads. The Cove trails go all over that valley and there are some steep sections, some flooded sections, but a healthy dose of rocks, boulders and ledges.

Oh, did I mention caves? Lots of caves up there. Some big enough to drive into if you dare.

David, it takes me about 2.5 hours to get there from ATL.
It takes me about 2.5 hours to get to Greenville or 3 hours to get to Augusta.
So for you it looks like almost 9 hrs of driving.

Same for me but work schedule that far out is also a question. We'll see!
