I read that the mechanical advance dizzys are more often used in a 40 series?

I have a 60 with a 2F and installed their Weber Carb / Dizzy kit. The dizzy doesn’t reach oil/turn the pump. The shaft looks about 1/2 inch short?? I’m out of town, I’ve got a trusted mechanic doing this part for me but wanted to ask here… any ideas?

Ahhh! I hate troubleshooting from 1500 miles away. Thanks!

Yeah the product photos show the gear orientation exactly the same.

I’ll call Man-A-Fre tomorrow.

For reference, this is what the OEM FJ60 2F big cap distributor looks like (top pic).

It's interesting, the oem 79 FJ40 2F small cap distributor has the cam gear reversed (bottom pic).

Both work fine in a 2F, but I had never noticed that before.

My guess is your mechanic is having trouble aligning the oil pump slot, or getting past a new o-ring while seating.

It's flipped so the gear will line up with the cam. Should still seat in the oil pump. Maybe he just doesn't have the oil pump slot lined up correctly.

So I am having to return the dizzy and order one from Cruiser Corps. Man-A-Fre thinks I have an after market oil pump which is causing an issue and I don’t think that is the case. I’m frustrated but it’s a 40 year old truck so…

Have you compared critical measurements on the old distributor that worked at some point and the new one? The photo only showed the shaft ends and it wasn't clear which was which.

But, it seemed like the distance from the end of the shaft to the top of the cam gear was about the same on both.

I have not. I’m out of town until Sunday so I’ll attend to it then. Thank you, and all who have replied.
