Was getting ready to sell the 62 and the wife says "why don't you make that your trail rig?" Gosh, twist my arm!

So, where do I begin?

The truck is mechanically sound, with new AT's and OEM Shocks. What should I do first? New springs (Dakar?)? ARB bar? Winch? Lockers?

All advice gladly accepted.

Here is what I was planning on doing...

IPOR rear bumper w/ tire carrier and powdercoat
$725
SROR sliders
$574
OME heavy lift from ULC
$1497
WARN M8000 from Clemson 4wheel Center
$580
5 BFG MT 33x10.5xR15
$635
ARB rear or LockRite
$? IPOR has a 20% off sale going on ARBs right now

Have to figure in shipping, etc.

I was going to do in this order
Lift and tires
Front bumper
Sliders
Locker or winch - not sure which next
Rear bumper

Oh, and almost forgot

steve's gotta good plan there. I might move sliders up on the list after wheelin w/ a few 60/62's. Maybe you could trade your at's for some mt's. If you got to a 16'' wheel i'll give you a deal on the 285/75 mtrs i have. I would think another likely order might be sliders, MT's, bumper w/ winch, lift and then on down the list. Protect those straight rockers first, mt's to get you further, winch to rescue you from going further, lift to get you even further next time. Or sell it and build the 98:)

Get sliders first, then the lift, then the front bumper...followed as closely by the rear bumper, then get the biggest tires that will fit :)

Get the winch last...it will only get you into more trouble and not having one makes you wheel with friends.

I bet if you drove into the back of JPs 62 fast enough the accessories would self-swap a la a table cloth at this point :flipoff2:

well I will list mine order of bang for your buck on the trail...........

Locker (rear aussie)
3" Dakar paired with 34" x 10.5" Super Swamper LTB's
Sliders
then front and rear bumpers with a winch

*edit* it just seems best that you sell your 62 and buy mine :D

Just buy this stuff from JP he will sell it. Just have cash in hand and make sure Mary Ellen is around.

Sweet!!!

Wow, those are some great plans. JP, are your really selling your swag? If so, PM me with a $ on the ARB bar and sliders. ( No JP, I don't want your springs ~~~~ :grinpimp:)

So, I like Dan's idea and Steve's brands, and sliders make sense as a first step. This will be slow, must hide it in the budget, maybe under "school supplies."

I will post up some pics as we go!

[Picture is of my wife convincing me to mod the 62. There was coconut juice involved . . . . ]

Hmmmm...**mad scientist laugh**

JP trades with Merle, gives Mary Ellyn the newer, lower mileage FJC, gets to keep the 40 and then gets to build the 80 for trail duty!!!!

Then.....David can sell his 62 and buy that cherry two tone 80 for sale in Asheville!!! :D

Sorry David, back to the regularly scheduled program!!

Just looked at Jim's Sliders at SROR

Very nice and the price is right! I think I like the sliders without the tubes. Any advantage to tubes? I don't plan on lifting very high, just replacing the springs.
