Here is an idea of what i came up with for adding additional space to my M-416. It will be mostly made out of wood with some metal facing to dress it up. Let me know if you guys have any comments or other ideas.

Just a suggestion.
I used cables to support the tail gate/table on the back of my FJ40. They work great but I wish I had a way to adjust them when I park on less than level ground.

X2 on interesting.

Does this mount over the wheel wells? If mounted externally, how are you keeping dirt/rain/critters outta the drawers n such?

It will mount where the axe is now shown. The axe will be relocated to the other side. I will drop the square tubing now shown at the center, down to the edge of the tub. This way it will mount with the shelves under the tent and the drawers will stick out about 4". I am more worried about rain, but living in southern ca, there is not much. I will have to think about how I can seal it better to keep it dry. Perhaps make some kind of storage bag.

I'm on a computer that doesn't show me your photo, but I get the idea.

My s***-kicker method of keeping it dry in transit would be to fashion a 'hat' out of an old semi-truck innertube. Maybe grommet it down a couple inches below the top all the way around and ta-da, more reliable dryness. Just a thought.

nice concept, look forward to seeing it move forward.

Here is how it came out. I used this last weekend in Pismo and it was really nice to have stuff organized and easy to access. I put in a stereo with a remote and aux output for the mp3 player. Total width turned out to be 12", so it is set 6" in the tub and it sticks out 6". I will post some picks with it folded up later.

Looks Great !! How do you plan to keep the rain water from getting into the shelf area when it is folded up ?

Well, good question. It has a pretty tight fit when it is folded up. So I was going to try to put some weather striping around the edges of the shelving and see how that does.

Wow, so it just lifts up and clamps tight for travel?

How many hours you got in that?

Impressive, to say the least.

Yes, it is hinged at the top of the tub, folds up, and two clamps on each side secure it. It took about 24 hours or so.

SOmebody is drinking bloody marys  Nice work.
What other goodies you have on that thing? I see a hose nozzle, propane, are those 110 outlets?

Good eye on the cocktail. Those are 12 volt acc. plugs and a battery charger inside the box as well. 16 gal tank with a Shurflo pump, lights, faucet, hose. Just put in a reciever on the back bumper for a recovery point. Thats about it. I think I am done with it!

Does your truck charge the batteries in the trailer while you drive? I have trailer envy.

pretty sweet, is it heavy enough to effect balance?

Im sure it will tip easier with the extra weight at that height and location. I mostly do expedition style off roading 90% of the time, so nothing too serious. I got a trip planned next month that will fit into that other 10% category, so we shall see.
