Keep us updated! Thats a pretty good price for an entire kit if its good quality.

Normally I would not of entertained the HID option but the color (4300K) was to appealing to pass up. As for quality I dont see how it could be any crapper.

Look forward to hearing more about your experience with these!

Im done with my crappy LX470 headlight!

I kind of take offense to this and I want to say that your experience doesn't reflect everyones.

The LX470 IMO, has solid headlights. With a good (not worn) halogen bulb, the ground is well lit, even, and with solid reach into the distance and peripheries.

My opinion is based on my experience with several of my other personal vehicles with modern factory headlights, including LED, HID, and Xenon on very premium vehicles. Sure, the LX doesn't have the sexy bright white of the modern day light sources, but it holds its own.

I have to agree. While they arent comparable to a newer LED projector, they are more than adequate. Especially with some of the upgrades that are available to do with them. I hate to rain on anybodys parade, but those plug and play style lights are usually low quality and so is their output. Hopefully they work good for you though!

Sorry if you are offended (maybe a joke I didnt catch:meh:) but Im comparing the performance to the last 4 100 series I have owned.

That's why I did a total retrofit. I use OEM projectors instead of aftermarket. Excellent wide 7-8 lane output with razor sharp cutoff. No blinding oncoming traffic. Less strain on my eyes @ night & the rain doesn't wash away my light output compared to aftermarket hid kits. Here's a pic

Looks great
What projector did you use?
Do you have a Link to your setup in the event my cheap solution is not good enough?

I use OEM SC430 projectors with CBI 5500K bulbs & tsx-r clear lens. I've built a thread on here about my work called : LX470 retrofitted with SC430 projectors. Awesome results.

Nothing personal and you're entitled to your opinion. Just that the LX470 headlights are in no way as bad as you make them out to be, and on the contrary, rather good. Unless you're saying your particular headlight is worn (bulb), compromised, or modified in such that they now don't work well? Because there's a certain herd mentality on these forums where negative impressions start from an unfounded premise (e.g. AHC).

When you say last 4 100-series, were they LC's vs. your now LX?

Or what year LX is yours? Perhaps there's a design difference between the early gen and late gen hundies?

Curious as the LX inherently has a superior headlight architecture as it's projector rather than reflector based.

LX could be great lights depending on where you are coming from?
Bulb were replace when purchased because of slightly different color. Replaced with generic Sylvania.

1999 - LC
1999 - LC HID conversion
2003 - LC
2006 - LC

Now 2006 LX470

Land Cruiser lights are completely different design.

I do agree one would expect superior lighting with the Lexus.

The pattern of light is bad no so much the brightness. Who knows maybe the current LX are not factory.:hmm:

At this point the replacement have been ordered and will be going in. This is a traveling ride for us that see lots of night time diving and one way or another I will end up with good light.

Well, I did my retrofit twice to my vehicle. I gotten tired of buying standard or long life H1 halogen bulbs. My driverside wires kept overheating and burning my bulb out. For some reason I measured the voltage & was getting 16v. Bulbs are 12v. So I decided to go with the morimoto H1 4300K hid kit with the tsx-r clear lens. Used that setup for 3yrs. Output was way better than OEM. Just that the light would get lost when it rains. Gotten tired of buying bulbs to get me as close to OEM as possible. Finally I caught a seller selling SC430 projectors with CBI bulbs @ a deal I couldn't refuse. All I can tell y'all is I won't have to touch this setup for yrs because the bulbs, OEM ballast were new. Now I look OEM & easily light up 8 lanes with razor sharp cutoff. No blinding oncoming traffic

Aftermarket replacement HID head lights showed up and they look to be great quality. I hoped to have the headlights installed before leaving to Mexico but no luck when leaving in the AM.

I will start another thread on the install and light measurement before and after.

I did do a comparison between my 80 series HIR headlights and the LX470 and I can tell without a doubt (MY) LX470 headlights suck.

Just know the LX has 2 small holes that's inside both projectors. Output will increase. Sidenote: use double-sided tape to mount your ballast inside the fender behind the turn signal light. Then fish your wires thru the hole on the side and just hook up the kit. 35 - 40min job

Thanks for the tips but Im confused, what do you mean by Just know the LX has 2 small holes that's inside both projectors. Output will increase.

I was actually doing something when I read your message. Actually the factory headlights has 2 little holes inside each projectors. Don't know what the output of the aftermarket headlights. I'm waiting on your pics to get a first hand look. My 1st retrofit I opened my headlights up & covered the 2 holes on both projectors with foil tape. Then installed a clear tsx-r lens. This how it looked then.
