Thanks Onur,

When I was driving back to Texas from Moab, and I hit Albuquerque, I almost pulled into LHM Toyota to come in and shake your hand and say thanks for getting me that water pump, but I think I called your number and remember you had a recording that you were going to be on vacation. I will have to catch you next time I am swinging through there.

Glad to see Onur got you hooked up. Based on several promptly shipped little brown boxes I've gotten from him, Onur rocks!

I went out and took some photos today. Sorry about the terrible quality. I dropped my iphone in the gas tank of my other car a couple weeks ago when I was trying to change out the in tank fuel pumps. But hopefully that gives you some idea. The truck is basically coming back from a 3,000 mile trip, and I just ran it through the car wash at the gas station so it isn't perfect. I also have one of the second row seats out because I took my dog with me and it gives him some extra room in the back, but it is in the same condition as the other second row seat, I will put it back in probably tonight when it isn't so hot out there.

If you have any more questions or want more specific or detailed photos let me know. I have my old digital camera charging now so I can hopefully get better quality shots.

Thanks!
Ryan

The large speaker holders are fiberglass enclosures I had made to house a 6.5" Focal Separate, the roof rack manufacture is detailed in this thread it was a company in Houston that specializes in aluminum for large fishing yachts and work trucks.

Well I am not sure exactly what was in an LS400 stereo, but what the enclosures allow you to do is move the speaker from the stock location which interferes with the dashboard and gives you more mounting depth for the woofer. I was able to use a fairly large and deep 6.5" woofer this way instead of being forced to use shallow mount speakers like those normally used in the 80's. I would probably shy away from the LS400 stereo if you can. Like the 80 stereo you are looking at speakers with paper cones that are 16 years old, I think they might not have a lot of life in them. I would hate to hear that you put a lot of work into making them fit and then blew a cone.

Ryan

Well that is just the headunit, I am about 90% sure that Toyota and Lexus have only used paper cones in their stereo's. It isn't until you get into audiophile grade equipment where carbon, kevlar, etc or higher end materials are used. If it sounds good now go for it, I just know that when I pulled my stereo out of the Lexus the cones were showing signs of wearing out.

Well I went up to EMS Powered in Austin, talked to them about their 80 series exhaust, and saw their shop. Great shop and the owner was nice and very knowledgable. We ended up coming up with some plans......

The LX is getting; a turbo, a new head gasket, a Ron Davis radiator, and a custom 3" exhaust

Pretty excited about this after getting passed by a Prius coming back from Colorado.

Looking at the Garret GTX30 or GTX35, thinking the 30 so it spools quicker, since no one seems to be pushing much air anyways the 35 might be overkill. I did look at the Borg Warner and they are very nice, but they are on national backorder because of cracked housings.

I know a lot of this was hashed out a few years ago, but that was before I was part of the 80 scene. Looks like I will be going with a Landtank MAF housing so that the MAF isn't saturated, a RRFPR, Supra fuel pump, and I think the missing piece to control the closed loop system is a URD O2 sensor calibrator.

Wish me luck.

Looking forward to see how this turnes out, I really want to turbo mine but the 1hd is so tempting as well. Really want an increse in miles per tank and not so much power but I keep falling back to my tunner power addiction lol.

Are you usung the stock manifolds and making a y pipe or full manifol. I plan to do the y pipe if I do it.

Going to keep the stock manifolds and do a Y. I feel like the cast manifolds on the market are not great quality, I am sure EMS powered could do a stainless tubular manifold, and it would turn out great but this will work well.

I am going to do an air to water intercooler, for ease of packaging, and being able to cool with an electric fan for slow speed crawling.

My biggest concern is fueling, but we will work through it.

O2 Sensors

Changed out the O2 sensors today. I wasn't having any issues. No codes. I was just trying to get everything in the system ready for when I add a turbo. Well I was pretty shocked to see the front O2 sensor wasn't throwing codes.

They both came out no problem no penetrating spray, no rust issues.

Front O2 had 2 stacked gaskets, I guess the Toyota dealer the PO took it to didn't believe in taking the time to get the other one off and clean the surface. Both gaskets were completely blown out. Nothing left.

Rear was in good shape, gasket was whole.

Rear wing

Also pulled the rear wing off since it was showing indication of water sitting under the feet. I wish I would have pulled this and sealed the holes when I did the line-x but oh well.

Even here in Southern Texas where it is 100+ degrees and we haven't seen rain for at least 4-5 days, I had water sitting under the feet soaked into the foam adhesive. If you are in a wet climate this is going to be a bad source of rust just like the roof rack.

I have a coule of ideas to fix it, but I am not sure which direction I will take.

Window Channels

Bought new window channels probably going to do the door weatherstripping as well.

Thought I would give it a shot since I had heard it was simple, but I will tell you this was very frustrating. I don't know if it is the 100+ degree temps that are making the rubber so soft and pliable and unable to be pushed down the channel, but I fought this for an hour, rolling the window up a little, shaking the glass back and forth, holding the window away from the side I was working you name it. Using rubber glide thinking it might help it slide down the channel and against the window. I am going to let it cool off before I try any further. I got the short side but the long side has about 3" to go.

If anyone has any advice lets hear it. lol
