LX Puddle/Courtesy Lights LED strip upgrade (1 Viewer)

I installed mine a few weeks back. I still have my running boards with their lights and now have these strips. The thing that is cool is how these also fade up. And they put out tons of light.

I would say this and the PFran LED install have been the two little upgrades my family has appreciated most.

Thank you for putting these together.

If anyone is unsure about these, these are hands down dollar for dollar the best 'mod' I've done to my LX. My wife loves the light, my 2 year old isn't scared to get out anymore and all this just in my driveway!

Camping with the rear hatch open they stay on and provide fantastic area light right around the cab. I used to use vision X rock lights for this task, but these are so much easier to install and maintain.

If somebody is looking for pair of these I have them in bright white that I will not be using due to other issues not related to these lights. Please IM me and we can work something out..

Thank you.

Update: These are now spoken for.. Thanks.

Love it @screendoor and I would like a set please. Have you looked at this for doing the fade in and fade out? Fade-in Fade-out LED Dimmer | Oznium

Just use the power in to also trigger it. That's what I'm going to do. Thanks!!

Yes, I can put together a set. I have Bright White, Warm White, and Yellow colors. I will send you a PM.

Great find on that Fade-in Fade-out dimmer. I will check that out.

@screendoor your inbox is full. I’m looking to pick up a set of the warm white if still available.

I fixed my inbox issues, thanks to @MGordo and @MGordo for letting me know! I can make more sets and have sent you both PMs.

Yes, I have connectors and LED strip. I can provide just the connectors if you have your own lights, or the connectors with LED strip as a full set for both sides.

You should come the UTOR expo and snowbasin tomorrow so I can check out your setup!

Just for fun talk.....

I played with this type of LED strip to build a home light fixture (it has a separate controller with built in presets and a microphone for audio responsiveness, remote, and a 5v converter built in).....

you could protect the lights a bit by installing tracks (cheap on amazon).

You can also get inexpensive controllers meant for use in cars, which would allow you to choose just about any color and change the brightness. For those who are more technically inclined, they work very well with an Arduino (that is, until you want to write the code from a 1v microphone, then it gets kind of ugly).

As far as my vehicle, I think something is wrong with some electronics. When I test drove it (2001 LX), I thought I heard the doors lock when going into gear, and when going into reverse the driver mirror moved down. Now the drivers mirror doesn't move at all (through the switch) and the doors don't auto lock. I had no idea there were 'courtesy' lights. I also don't have a keyfob. Guess I'll have to play with it all. Courtesy lights in the doors, and overhead, all work as expected.

Not sure if I can make it up tomorrow, but if I do, I will shoot you a message. I am in Utah County in case you are ever down this way - I would be happy to meet up.

I tried RGB strip for my first setup with a wireless controller. However, I wanted Warm White to match the interior lights and I couldn't get the RGB strip to get a color temp that I was happy with. It also wasn't quite as bright as single color 5050 strip. I also didn't have a need to change colors or have all the flashy modes (my kids enjoyed messing around with the modes, though).

I have an '01 LX as well, and my doors don't auto-lock. Good luck with the other electrical gremlins! The keyfob is nice to have with the running board courtesy lights because they light up the area as you press the keyfob unlock button and walk up to the truck. They should also come on when you open the doors. If they don't, and you have the stock running boards installed, the bulbs might be burned out.
