Sorry for the huge multi-quote...

WOW really good job!
i like that rear bumper
wow i really like your LC Amigo!

Thanks!! :D

It's official, my wife loves the finish, but wants reports on how it holds-up. Very nice job looks great.

My wife was the toughest to convince. She finally said "fine, it's your truck" and now she really likes it. She's even thinking about lining her truck now!

Looks really nice, but your 80 was my favorite color on them.

I like mine being white but its pretty plain :frown:

I like the white 'Cruisers if they're done right, but I think the tan looks awesome. I was never a huge fan of the old color (Moonglow) though, but maybe that was because I couldn't see past the flaking clear coat...

Looks really good. I love the color of dirt. Black really isn't the best color for a woods rig. Might have to do something similar. How did you mask/spray around the doors?

We just used Blue painter's tape. I removed all the door seals so that they wouldn't get speckled too, but you could probably just cover them in tape and not worry about the extra work.

Really, it's pretty simple- just cover anything that you don't want lined.

That's really tuff....

Real men line it.

Thanks!

That's a different look.

Uh, thanks. Afraid of commitment? :D

Just the product I've been looking for> Need to wait for money tree to bloom again. Cheers to ya, outstanding!

It's really not that expensive. Good luck on your saving and thanks for the compliment!

Thanks again all! I'll definiately be updating this thread as I beat the snot out of the liner. I have a 4 day wheelin' trip next weekend, so I should get some real world- rock-on-liner tests...

total cost?

total cost?

It took a little less than 3 gallons of liner. Hefty Fabworks sells the Liner for $297 for 3 gals and 55 for the spray gun (Not required- again you can roll it or brush it on too).

Add another $25-30 for prep stuff (Masking Tape, Sand Paper,) and you're into it for ~$375.

Well worth it IMO when comparing it to a paint job.

Sorry if this is a thread jack...but I'm pretty set on lining my 80 now after seeing this thread and Nay's Avocado job too. Anyone ever see an 80 in primer gray or flat gray (ie the same color as my gray interior)?

I've never seen an 80 in that color, but it is one of the standard colors available...

50 lbs was just the hood... now add 4 doors, tailgate, 2 corner panels, 2 fenders, roof. would add up. that was rhinoline.
obvious not the liner they used...

but yeah seriously:D

You're worried about 50 lbs? On a 5k (stock) rig? Seriously?

30 lbs is good

wow, only 30 lbs, thats awesome & under 400 bucks!
We used a rhinoline material, obviously way too thick & or heavy.
Nice looking 80 dude

It took 3 gallons of liner to get the proper thickness. (I'm the guy spraying in the pics) Total weight is probably 30lbs of liner. Not much at all.

Seems like it would be really hard to wash (if you even do that when you line it). The spray-on liner on my f-250 was black and ended up with red clay stains on it

It is hard to wash if you insist on it being completely clean - I just power spray mine and it's plenty good, but the lower panels hold some amount of dirt staining unless I scrub them.

But he picked a color that will also be the color of the road dirt you get in our region so you'll never see it. I was actually just looking at some tan/sand samples for this reason, but once you go Avocado there's no going back :D

Nice work and great price, I really like the outcome. Full lining is such a great solution. I recently leaned mine up against a big rock hard enough to leave drag marks in the slider step tube, rear tube bumper and both front and rear passenger doors (off camber lean into the rock, actually just noticed the Durabak scrape three weeks after the run, didn't realize there had even been any body contact).

I'll just recoat the scrape, 5 minute repair that would be a body shop job on painted metal if you cared to fix it.

When I rolled on my Durabak in three coats it was only 3 gallons and ~30 lbs. I'm not sure how you manage to use more than 3 gallons and how you get polyurethane with rubber bits to weigh a whole lot?

Hefty, you guys are obviously too far from me to do this but how does your product compair to Line-x. I did my truck bed in that and it was hard, strong, and not rough. Similar product and application?

Yeah, I'm not too worried about cleaning it. The color should hide a lot... Thanks for the props.

Fixing scrapes (Which I'm sure will happen...) should be pretty easy and is one of the factors I weighed when deciding whether to paint or line.

Road Trip!:steer: Al's liner is the DIY version of Scorpion Liner (same company). I have not compared the two personally, but they should be very similar. The texture can really be anything you want it to be from rough to almost smooth depending on how it's applied. Hefty might have some more thoughts/history on this.

Check out some other pics of how its been used:

I don't think it would be too hard to wash. As said above, a pressure washer should be able to take care of any dirt. When you get close to it, you can see that there aren't really any crevasses for dirt to get stuck in. Just high and low spots. You might have to scrub it with the brush at the wash, but nothing more.

Thanks for all the compliments!

Nylon brush works good - did my 40 in Durabak - 80 flare area too. You'll like it - it looks really good in tan, and that Al's looks good too.

Thanks Eagle.

I meant to post this as well. If you have never pulled your cowl off, you might consider doing so. I think my truck used to live under a tree...

There was a full 2-3 inches of leaves crammed in there.

good afternoon,

do you have any pics of how it cleaned up after some wheeling. like all muddy or what not and how it looks after a car wash, and how much a pain or not a pain it was to clean up?

Not yet. I literally just did this a week ago. I'll be wheelin' for 4 days next weekend, and I'll report back how it holds up.
