Nice pics ardentyota! The rig looks great, and capable at stock height on 285's! With added inspiration from this thread, I pulled the plug and ordered three gallons of Al's, and am embarking on this project next week. Not to hijack this thread, but I'll add just two pics and then start my own thread.

I'm going with a smooth-ish texture in some shade of grey - as much as tan makes the most sense in matching the dirt around here, I can't do tan on blue with a dark gray interior...I mean I could, but I'm not. So some version of gray it is...smoke maybe, or battleship...

Dana at Al's sent me these samples. If you look very closely at the tan swatch there's a vertical scratch in the center, from a blade of scissors dragged sideways with significant pressure. This stuff is durable. Also all 4 of these swatches spent yesterday buried in the dirt, in the sun, and I merely brushed them off for the pics.

Tan smooth, Gray smooth, Dark Gray rough, Black fine rough (rubber crumb I think). First pic is in the shade, 2nd is in the sun. And yes, my flare gaskets are toast.

This is what everyone else looked like:

And I'm happy to report, that even as dirty as it got, the pressure washer took care of it all. :hillbilly:

^^^awesome! You're making me want to go tan now...although the dirt around here is actually somewhat gray.

Here it is clean:

This is the spot where I bumped the tree. I think it will come off if I scrub it with some bug and tar remover. I think it's just dirt sticking to sap.

And this is what my paint would have looked like if it wasn't liner:

One trail we went on had trees scraping hard against both sides of the truck. It was more of a Jeep trail than a almost full-size.

It must be nice never having to wash or wax again :)

that looks really good, and those rear bumper wings are fantastic!

I just use the tripple shine as I go through the automated car wash.... or did, until I became too big to fit...

I don't know as though the wax ever made it look any different, but figured it was good for mud release

I love the tan - it looks great, but we have red dirt here.... wonder if they can paint match my truck after I go wheeling?

I have the lots of the red dirt too. I was wondering if the dark copper colors would hide it? Anyone...

Your truck looks awesome I like the tan, is there a thread out there on your rear bumper corners ?

Yeah, that is probably the last time I'll wash it until spring. :D It's the second time I've washed it since I bought it about 1 year ago.

Thanks!

It can be tinted any color you want!

You will be singing a different tune when you go to Moab... :flipoff2:

I'm trying to go in Sept. If I do, I'll post up more pics!

Thanks! There's a lot of banter in this thread. If you can get past that, there's some good pics and info in it. Contact HeftyFabworks for more info/clarification. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/382102-hefty-fabworks-rear-bumper-wings.html

Google or search here for Heafty Fab Works. I believe they did all of his armor: Front, Sliders & Rear Corners

Or this. Yeah, all my armor is from HF.

very nice job. absolutely love it. just need to sample some Carolina clay for them to match up.

I ran into ardentyota yesterday afternoon - he probably thought I was stalking him, but we actually were going to the same store! Anyway, this bedliner really does look good. I've been planning to line my fender flares, but the full-body thing is is really tempting!

I am interested to see how it holds up to the UV though. I've seen some bedliner (on pickup truck beds ... imagine that) that looked pretty chalky after a few years.

You have to use the UV protectant version, which in the case of Durabak added about $30/gallon. Mine looks like new after two years in the Colorado sun, but mine also shows our Colorado road dirt exactly as you saw in the pics but couldn't see at a distance..

I was honestly looking at going tan for that exact reason, that color doesn't show squat around here (wait til he goes to Moab, though :D). You could wash it a few times a year with a power sprayer and be done with it.

Really sweet - full lining rocks :hillbilly:

So I didn't see this in the write up, but how many coats did you spray on? Did you just do one pretty heavy coat?
