LEXUS GX LOVE
HARROP / EATON ELOCKER TRAIL REPORT

LEXUS TRAIL EDITION
Cruiser Brothers, LLC customer Matt Branson put a HARROP/EATON ELOCKER in his 2004 GX 470 with the help of gear guru Ken "Zuk" Francisco of Toyota Gear Installs.

Here is his report: "The GX with the rear Elocker performed flawlessly in Moab! We did Hells Revenge, Fins and Things, Dome Plateau, Onion Creek, Poison Spider and part of Golden Spike. Can't wait to go back. I want to do the front and re-gear so we will talk soon! Thank you,"

If Lexus offered a factory locker it would be electrically actuated with an internal actuator, like the new Tacoma elocker. We are proud to support all offroad Toyotas in partnership with Terrain Tamer 4WD and Harrop Engineering

So was this a locker installed with stock gears? Or were rear gears upsized?
Ken/"Zuk" at @gearinstalls.com set it up and I do not recall. I would guess not, given his comment about re-gearing while adding a front Harrop.

Some more shots of Matt Branson's GX 470 snaps on the trail in Moab - working the Harrop/Eaton elocker in back.

I added a rear (and front) lockers to my GX a few years ago. If you lock the rear the front ATRAC still works. It is an awesome combo. Locking the front is OK if you don't have to turn

Agreed that the front locker is OK....If Matt has me put a front locker in then he probably won't use it that much....at least not for stretches much longer than a couple hundred feet at a time but I can see the possibility of showing a TJ or LJ or JK how to do a tough section that requires full traction ....

Harrop GX470

Matt has the factory 373 gear still. I imagine he felt it on the highway with the oversized tires and also felt it on the steep long slick climbs oh Hells Revenge. It's just a matter of will it be Nitro brand 456 or 488.

Ken (ZUK)

35s with 4.56s are very nice. 4.88s will carry a bit more rpm on the highway. I run about 2300-2400 at 75mph with 35s on 4.56s with the GX.

I installed a 3" lift with 33" tires. My friend Zuk is right, I will probably use the front locker 1% of the time but I want it to keep the rubicon JKU owners quiet. I'm going to 35s and I'm leaning to 4.56 gears although the 3.73 and the V8 do just fine. The Harrop elocker is fantastic! I used the factory locker switch to make the install look factory. The best part about it is I don't have to listen to an air compressor anymore. On another note, Ward from cruiser brothers is awesome to work with. His customer service is exceptional.

Thanks, good to hear. :bounce::bounce2:

A personal note: On the way to Costco Wednesday, my wife and I stopped at Lexus/Seattle to show her what a 460 looked like (we had a 470 when new) and she decided we needed a new "house car."

Introducing "The Great White" - CPO 2013 with 40k miles and two years of warranty. First up is some brakes. The stockers are mushy pedaled, mediocre stopping at best.

Terrain Tamer HP slotted/drilled/beveled rotors plus composite pads will be installed, along with some of our ABLs - armored brake lines. This will be our long-distance event/trade show & tow truck so a Terrain Tamer suspension will be added to help the OEM receiver.

LOL ^

Where did you get the rear tire carrier/bumper? Great looking GX!

It seems alot of people go with arb air lockers. Like myself. Since I was rehearing anyway to 4.56 I went ahead and just had both front and rear lockers installed.

How do arb air lockers compare to these e-lockers?
