Hi all friends here: thanks for your attention. now this multimedia for lc100/lx470 comes with android 6.0.1 system. Here is the link for your reference:
10.2" Android Car Radio DVD GPS Navigation Central Multimedia for Lexus LX470 LX 470 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 LC100
AboutWaterCruiser...you really did a great job. And took the risk in the first place. Congrats dude! And thanks from all of us...even the LX470 owners who currently can't use this specific unit.
For all other LX470 lurkers, I've been having email conversations with Andy at Canavie for a while now. I can confirm that they have currently withdrawn units saying that they support the LX. Here's what Andy had to say:
"As you have said there is no issue with Land Cruiser. anyone installed it with LX470 without issues in the forum? some of our customers had issues with LX470. so We just stopped it for LX470 currently but not stopped it for LC100!
We sold several ones to USA for LX470 and tried to contact these friends but without any response from them. So we are not sure if it can work well with LX470 from USA. However, this unit works perfectly with LC100 and LX470 from Mid-East countries.
In Nov there was a friend Charles from USA also inquired this unit for LX470. He said LX470 popular in USA and this unit would be in high demand. he also said he would try a sample but no further response from him...
A friend from Australia installed it with his LX470 and found some issues. He was very nice and he didn't return it. Since then we stopped selling it for LX470
On 6th Jan 2017, a friend Caleb from USA inquired it for LX470, he recevied my reponse as you saw in the forum.
This is the full story. I hope it will be helpful for you and other friends in the forum. Will you or any other friends in the forum still want to test it with LX470?"
That last question is something I told him that there's a few of us, at least. seanz0rz, jLB, deanfun, myself. I don't know if 4 customers is enough to justify it but...
If there are any other LX470 owners lurking and would like to throw your hat into the ring...speak up. I can let Andy know.
Again, WaterCruiser...my hat is off to you. if you want to crowdfund yourself some beer for your work, I'm in. I'll gladly send you a gift certificate for your nearest craft beer brewery!
About that response from the friend named Charles from the state s,that was me and I definitely didnt see the offer to try it out a sample to see .maybe.i need to get back with AndyAbout
impressions after 11 months: it mostly works for me, but the average user might not like itWhats the latest feelings on this @WaterCruiser (or others)? --Something you'd recommend for an "average" type user?--like for someone who doesnt want to have to tinker on it all the time? IOW, will my wife or my mother appreciate using this thing? And I mean more of the "after installation" type of use...install i understand will take some tinker and such, but more for daily usage type of scenario...
Hi All Friends here: Thanks for your attention. Now we restart this head unit for LX470. In addition, it also fits Lexus RX4700/5700.
Thank you. Happy New Year~

Will that work with a 2002 LX470 with nav? All functional?
The system is for the newer style dash. 03+Canavie - I'm with PeterB16. I'd like to know if you've gotten this head unit so that it's compatible with the unit in the picture I'm attaching?
I have Mark Levinson/HVAC/Navigation. Of course, the Levinson is non-functioning and the Navigation is obsolete, so hopefully your unit now works for our 2002s!
Thx.

Because the unit he linked is the unit that has been discussed throughout this entire thread, I was simply referencing that unit under the impression that they were fixing the LX compatibility issues. The earlier systems is an entirely different system, would require a completely new design, not a restart of a current design. But alas, I’ll wait for Canavie to say the same. Even though they haven’t been on for almost 2 months.Hey DD...thanks for interjecting. So, question...you know this how?
I ask this because when I initially started the conversation with Andy@Canavie a year or more ago it was established that what you state was, in fact, the case. However, to have him come back and state that they're restarting this head unit might indicate that there have been design changes...which is what I'm trying to determine. You know...get it from the horse's mouth?
So, unless you're Andy or work at/for Canavie I'm going to wait for Andy/etc from Canavie to tell me specifically if it works with the unit I have, captured in the picture I posted.
Thx
thought I'd weigh in
despite mfr claims, I think the integration of these units is still experimental. that could change if:
- someone can demonstrate integration & functionality in your vehicle's market-make-model-year
- the mfr/distributor can establish reliable technical support
if you do pursue this PLEASE share your experience
Hey Devil. Did you see the other thread to delete the nav?Absolutely agree, WC. That's why I'm reaching out to Andy/Canavies to clarify what, if anything, has improved about this unit. Your experience has proven to me that, as of the time when your unit was made, it/they weren't ready for primetime.
I would never turn over my cars hvac and stereo to android rom. (it won't ever sound the best either) I understand the WHY, I just hope it's easy to go backwards from something like this. Lots of things to fail. I'm not trying to be a dick either, but look, Chinese, android rom, no support, no US backing, SURE, what's the worst that could happen.
Did the GROM thing ever turn out for 2003+? I have't kept up.
Everyone needs a hobby so really, it's none of my business.
