I thought I would start a new thread to feature the upgrade I will be doing soon. I have ordered a 10" replacement screen to replace the factory small screen on my 2006 LX470. The new screen incorporates the use of Android OS, allows MP3 music files, WIFI, etc. A link to the actual product is Lexus LX470 Capacitive screen car pc radio pure android wifi gps navigation_Car dvd player GPS navigation Manufactory

I reviewed the video. My first concern is the radio on the video does not appear to be similar to the picture shown on their site. I have already wired the money and they are promising shipment by Friday of this week. I'll post updates as I start this project. This is also suppose to allow me the use of additional inputs on the rear, integration of climate control, factory rear camera, steering wheel controls, etc.. Essentially allow you to update your 10 year old truck with some decent technology.

Yes the a/c will work with the new system. If this does not work, I will get a stand alone a/c controller and get an aftermarket radio/nav.

how much was it? this may be the unicorn we've been looking for that can deal with the climate control issue

That is so darn cool. I've had an 8" Ipad in my fun car the past 2 yrs now. It's only for around town, but so kicks but having a large screen with Waze and Spotify. It would be awesome for road trips. Been wanting to do the same with the LX but haven't seen a good way without hacking it up, especially given the A/C integration. Great find, hoping someone gives it a shot.

I think you have to pay extra for online streaming. Plus no unlimited data. Also, I only have one tunner and I don't think you can get only online so I'd have to pay for an unused tunner to get online
That's your option with an android head unit and it worked well for me with the android HU I installed in my hunting truck using my cell phone as a WiFi hotspot with unlimited data. You can transfer your subscription to online only.

Sat is only beneficial when I can use it offroading when I don't have a data signal. If I have data then I likely have terrestrial radio too. I pay for Sat radio so I can listen while I'm way out.

As another poster already said, I'm curious about the price and wonder if the unit is able to be upgraded as additional OS versions come out. The one draw back that I see with this is that with time it will (or may) just get too bogged down with apps and outdated hardware that it'll be unusable. I have a nexus 7 (OG 2012) that is still in good shape but the specs are old and its not worth my sanity to try and attempt to use for anything other than playing tunes for my baby as he falls asleep. Lag is SOOOOO bad on that thing and I'd be really bummed if the same thing happened to my in vehicle display.

Price?
