Wescott is really good styling wise but not performance wise. All his big tire build are pretty useless on trail. Does not increase articulation nor better suspension damping.

They definitely know their customers well though. The fit and finish is really good.

No idea about Wescott as I've been out of the Toyota game for about 12 years now, but, playing devil's advocate, these are vehicles going to a trade show, where eye-grabbing s*** is par for the course and meant solely to drive feet to a booth.

I know them for spacer lifts, so it qualifies that stereotype for me.

Didn’t say it was nor was I comparing it.

It’s a modern generation toaster for the masses that is going to make a billion dollars a year for Toyota. They ain’t dumb.

It will work well for families, urban, upwardly mobile couples and individuals, and for women.

It’s a safe mobility bet on Toyota’s part and in that regards they did a good job.
Let me re-word my post....
This is a 4runner I would actually buy..... if it had the ttv6

Love the TRD center caps
Logo looks good on a t shirt. Not so much on the rig.

"That's just your opinion, man." The Dude...

My old lady took delivery of her FE a few days ago. MSRP and no PIO from a very small dealership in rural Maine. She calls it a fancy 4 wheeler but has enjoyed it so far. We live 2 miles down a private dirt road with a few other year round residents. This winter will be the real test for us. I'm expecting my Overtrail+ sometime in late June or July.

Don’t pull any punches Beno :hillbilly:

I’m looking for something with a lease payment to write off, and haul my bird dogs up forestry roads and get ideally better than the 12 mpg my current Tundra does. Ideally it will not be designed to be comfortable for the obese (like the Tundra seats) and be easy on the eyes.

This will do nicely:

And to those panicking that this one is being loaded on a trailer, maybe they are taking two and don’t have extra drivers? Or it’s a customer owned rig and they don’t have permission to drive it there? Lots of things happen in the custom vehicle world that look odd without back story…

Larger aftermarket brands tend to transport vehicles to shows (SEMA, Overland Expo, etc etc etc) to keep the vehicles safe and because there are usually multiple vehicles that need to arrive before or concurrent with the multiple reps who fly in or travel on their own

If you trailer your "overlander" to the overland expo - it's not very overlandy. The overland expo is probably the right place for trailering show trucks. It's not really the place where people who actually do real overland travel would typically go. The vehicles or products at the overland expo are not the same products or vehicles that you'll see crossing the Serengeti. I've never been to an overland expo, but the pictures don't look much like anything I see out in the bush.

I think it's really a naming convention issue. It should be more like overland cosplay expo, overland stylized product expo, or something along those lines.

Look, if I owned a business and a core component of my marketing and sales strategy was having vehicles in my "booth" at trade shows, I'm trailering it, too. I want to do everything I can to make sure that vehicle is there in perfect condition, and I don't hit a deer or have some moron run into me while I'm on the way to the show.

Again, sounds like Wescott may do some poseur s***, but I can't blame anyone for making a sound business decision.

If I were selling spacer lifts - I'd trailer them too. I wouldn't sell spacer lifts. And I wouldn't trailer my overlander to an overland expo. But - I also wouldn't go to an overland expo. Obviously, we're on pretty opposite sides of this spectrum.
