Would be nice if Toyota would put its effort into putting vehicles in driveways instead of parading around a few samples to mall parking lots.
Ain’t that the truth!

THIS! I hate the trend of months to years long press tours/social media campaigns to drum up interest on a model. Fire the social media teams and hire more workers to just build the damn things and get them to dealer lots

For those of us that work in Product Development (in any industry), we have an old saying when management asks us to bring in the schedule, "You want it bad, you get it Bad!"

The reality is, the mantra of Marketing is, generate buzz, leave them clamoring for more, while they wait, to build anticipation. Unfortunately, for us enthusiasts, there is never enough information and it's never soon enough, no matter how many nuggets we dig up.

I would rather wait, have them take their time and get it right, I don't want another Tundra turbogate or poor fit and finish.

It's been 13 years. How much time is necessary? I know it takes time to develop new products. But I don't think that really applies here. The hot new iPhone 3 was out and the iPad hadn't even been released yet when the last one hit the market.

If we calculate the time between market launch time
LC 300 hit the dealer lots 13 years and 8 months after the first LC200 hit the lots.
October 2007 vs June 2021

The first LC150 hit the dealer lots in October/November 2009 and we are currently October 2023 and the LC250 still hasn't hit the dealer lots...that is 14 years.

Crazy...and who knows when you can actually buy one..January...February? I am hearing some global markets may not even get the first units on lots until March/April!
I feel they should have just called it a 25 model at this rate.

Typical auto / truck development time is 3 - 5 years, depending on the manufacturer. Toyota would have started on the current batch of new models, GX550/LC250/Tacoma/4Runner around 2019, not after the last model was introduced. That's not bad for development time compared to satellites at 5 - 10+ years or aircraft systems at 3 - 7+ years.

Toyota has been in the press recently claiming they are working to cut development time in half, but I think that is more focused on EV's, although perhaps some reduction time processes will trickle down to ICE.

They started development of the lc300 program
In 2014. I rememeber reading it in one of the Japanese interviews.
From 2014 until market launch in summer 2021 that is almost 7 years.

Lc200 took 5 years to develop from 2002 - 2007 (market launch late 2007)

Seeing some of the design sketches of the lc250. They are dated 2020. I am guessing design freeze happened in late 2020.

Lc300 design freeze happened in 2016/17 with the original design being rejected tor being too similar to the lc200.
The design was redone I think within the span of a year and frozen again in late 2017 possibly (cant confirm)
Some claim while the design of the lc300 was redone the lx 600 remains original to its ~2016 design freeze.

Not sure if this can be ever confirmed.
However one of the early lc300 models definitely looked alot like an lc200.

They are probably already working on the lc300 facelift. Probably already been finalised maybe waiting to confirm some final touches when they see the y63 Nissan Patrol which will debut in q1 2024, but not sure if realistically that is possible so close to expected MY2026 (late 2025) market launch of series 2 lc300.

New body stripes for GXR/VXR grades
Body stripes are optional and not every dealer orders them - They usually change design with every model year.

Modellsita kit which used to be installed locally by some dealers now comes installed from Japan for MY2024 due to high local demand by the dealers.

I have no idea when the 250/252 will officially start production though.
150 is still in production as of October 2023.

that's my question too - when does the 250 finally go on sale.
Unless a delay occurred since I read this information.
First customer vehicles are supposed to arrive between January/February.
This was for the GX550.

I also remember reading Lc250 will arrive a few weeks after.

Based on above information
I am predicing large scale production to begin November/December.

I would assume that design and development is a ongoing continuous process and that they are already working on the LCI and next generations.
