More elbow grease...

Installed the new wheel bearings. Used the old bearings to drive in the new. Then finished working them the rest of the way in with a brass punch.

Then seals and I reinstalled the dust shield. Lubed everything up with gear oil before installing and slowly worked everything into place. Then repeated on the other side.

Then had this little bastard sitting at the bottom of my steps waiting on me to step on him. He's dead now.

Not sure why (perhaps the OCD), but I decided to paint the moon shaped spacers.

Also mocked up the brackets as well. Still need to paint the calipers.

Debating on painting the rear calipers red to match the fronts. They came cad plated, but the plating is chipped in places from being shipped around more than once.

Decided to mock one up to get an understanding around how everything fits and the caliper brackets are definitely directional. You'll find that there is an ear on each caliper and that it will need to be lined up with the bracket cutout before you bolt the caliper down. (Picture below shows the ear isn't aligned with the cut out on the bracket). If not, you can't seat the caliper into the bracket.

Funny enough I was reading some threads on the FAQ and people were commenting that they had to grind the ear off. I'm pretty sure they just had their brackets upside down.

Here's the correct orientation...it does clock the caliper lower if you're going for rear side of the axle placement.

Busy day trying to knock this thing out.

Took my die grinder and dremel tool and knocked down the metal on the caliper to allow the banjo bolt to exit out the side so the hose isn't aimed directly at the axle.

Amazing how the second of anything always looks better (on the left).

Used a sacrificial socket to help press out the wheel studs without damaging the dust shield.

More cleaning and painting to get the axles looking good.

Also painting the dust shields that sandwhich to the back of the axle.

Never realized what the paper gaskets that georg sent me were for until I pressed out the wheel studs.

With the axles done I got the new longer wheel studs pressed in and didn't kill myself in the process.

With both axles installed I put the locker back together. By some miracle the locker went back together easily and getting the springs and c-clips back in was relatively smooth.

Cleaned up some of my garage mess and got the calipers painted. Protected the piston seals with Vaseline to keep the paint from sticking. Now to start cleaning that off.

The end is in sight! I haven't driven my 40 since January 7th. I can't wait to see what it's like going from 4-wheel drums to discs on all corners.

Had to compress the calipers to get them mounted.

Now I need to decide where to mount the tombstone tabs. I'm running the 4+ ubolt flip kit so I'll probably wait until I can mount the axle back. First I need to cut the rear crossmember and rotate it 180 since I flipped the springs.
