what run ? do tell - I'll be in town :bounce:

It's one of them secret invite deals.:hillbilly:

Some of us will be doing the TRAL thing at Mesquite Wash on Saturday. Our task is to run FR160 back to Rocker panel, make sure it's passable, may have debris washed down from the burn area and confirm/replace carsonites.

If the beach run is not posted, it is indeed a secret :steer:

Unless of course a post 12 hours before departure is posted then the protocol for CSC has been met and all is good

Raul was out terrorizing the parking lot!:hillbilly:

With driveshafts? Did you go home last night?

It would be hard to terrorize without drive shafts?

I think so, maybe for a few min, hard to remember?:hillbilly:

Someone is smiling pretty big. He just got to test drive Raul. Kevin and I did too. Had a few little bugs to work out, but it runs and drives nice. Can't wait to get it on the trial. Still have some work to do before we can do that. John

drips nice, too :hillbilly: that heater valve was actually more running than dripping

I really like the traction bar. Nice work, dude.
Parts is parts. recycled parts is even better. That arm was pretty badly bent. We straightened it on the press, but did not feel safe in re using it in the original application. So, Kevin came up with this design. High clearance, great articulation, and lots of strength. Absolutely NO axle wrap on this setup. John

More pix, unfortunately we were doing more work and taking less pic.

Took the rear axle out, cut the excess brackets off. Welded the spring perches. Cut the traction bar mount to fit over the axle and made box gussets to fit. Didn't take pix, but can see the front one in this pic.

Put the front shackle hangers through the frame. This allows for good flex and lowest lift possible with SOA.

A couple of rounds of forklift flexing. This reveled that the first shackles were slightly too short. Made longer ones, and determined where the steering box, shock mounts needed to be and shock lengths.

Pulled the rear axle apart, installed the Aussie Locker, new axle seals, etc. The locker went in nicely, right on spec.

The radiator was shot, so got a Champion off of e-bay, nice unit. How about that :hillbilly: catch can?!

The battery needs to move, this will allow the radiator to move over to passenger, allowing for a larger fan. This will also allow room for a proper recovery bottle.

The steering conversion, shock mounts/towers took some trimming to get them where we wanted. Overall went in nicely, need to shoot some pix. Still needs to come back apart for box and pump reseal, add a cooler, etc.

Started on the front bumper. Clipped the front of the frame, made plates with welded nuts, stuck them to the frame. The bumper is 2x4" 1/4" wall tube, capped on the ends, with tubes for the bolts.

Will be adding recovery points and brackets that will go back along the sides/top of the frame. When compared to RootBeer, the face of the bumper is ~3" closer to the bib, shorter overhang/approach angle.
