That looks terrific! I did this years ago and I have no regrets. You might want to keep an eye on the pitman arm/spring contact. I was hitting, so I put the drag link on top of the arm with the help of a special reamer, then welding the ball studd on the bottom so the nut wasn't hanging down there. A different arm is probably the best way, but I have had no issues.

After reaming the pittman out for a 1 ton end, I doubt he has enough room to reverse the taper and mount the TRE on the top of the arm.

That . . .

Is . . .

Shuh-WEET !!!

:bounce2:

I like that six-bolt knuckle !

Good on ya, man! Post up some more pics!

If I do get any contact, I have an 80 series Pittman I can have reamed and swap in. It has about an inch less drop.

Yep-FJ62 housing. Good eye for that.

Affirmative to cut and turn as well. The pinion angle came out so perfectly that I think I could run that front shaft at 75 mph without vibes.

What did you set the pinion angle to? I know the 62 comes with more angle than the 60, so you must have not increased it that much.

What tires are you going to run? 35's or 37's? Re-gear?

Has anyone run dual calipers yet? Don't think it would be to hard to pair a second master cyl.
Might help stoping those 39.5s

Ok! That, six shooter/six pack whatever it's called, I one of the most beauty-full piece of art that I've ever seen. That belongs on a mantle...

Now as for dual calipers?

Wont you just melt that rotor after a couple of stops? NONE the less it look pretty sick.:grinpimp:

I don't know the exact angle-I can measure later. It increased significantly.

I'm planning to run 35s. After years on 35s I know the Cruiser axles can handle them without much risk of breakage. I'll go larger if I like wheeling this truck.

That is one pretty sweet set up you got there... but really !!!

You need to post more cruiser porn for us visual people....

That is one nice blue FJ60..... I dig blue wagons !!!

Please tell me what your pinion angle is! I've heard that 10* is a good angle, but if you say that you've got it perfect then I'd like to know.

Oh, and MANUCHAO's right about more pictures. I need a new background for my computer!

Andy,

That's a mean looking Cruiser. Congrats.
So when do we take on the trail?

Alvaro

You still have them piece that attaches from the top of shock to the frame (front of the chassis)????
I broke mine.

Hijack thread over....:D

Yes-I do have the shock mounts. Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you one.

I'll get more pics, but I was trying to save them for my ROTW when that comes up. Like I said, this is still a work in progress and is really like 85% at this point. I'm working the next 14 or 15 days in a row so I won't have much Cruiser time.

Nice Job Andy!
I was looking at the 6 shooters...
What didnt you like about the 5th stud that Bobby has, just out of curosity?
I forget what the section is called, but here on mud there is a build up section that has part numbers for the SOA brake lines...Like an FAQ...I forget what its called.
Theyre also posted in my SOA thread, but its a lot of crap to go through.
4 days is AMAZING work.

Andy,
Outstanding job! And in only 4 days - very impressive. I think I recognize those OEM springs from my 62. Glad they could go to a project like this.

Thanks Tom-they are beefed up front and rear with an extra long leaf that I cut the military wrap off of. The rear also has a secondary extra leaf. I was aiming for too stiff, figuring I can always take a leaf out if needed. I'm hoping your FJ62 will get the same treatment at some point. Longer term, I think mine will, and become the #1 wheeling truck, either that or put the 2FE in the FJ60! I eventually want fuel injection for my primary wheeler.

It's funny-it really didn't take all that long-one of the 4 days was spent driving to Grass Valley to get the tie-rod shortened. I had the front axle built and ready to go before starting, so it was just a matter of swapping parts, and welding shock mounts, spring perches etc. I had hoped to have it ready for Surf N Turf, but life got in the way.
