How will this adapt to the Lexus LX450?

The LX has bracketry for the CD changer at the bottom of the console.
There is the factory subwoofer that would go away. No biggie there.

I currently have a “Police style” loud speaker controller/electronic air horn computer box thingie for my steering wheel horn. It is mounted where the 6 CD cassette box was factory.

It is small, but probably would need to be relocated as well as the CB-style hand microphone that I have routed out the rear of the console where the CD cassette ejected from.

will someone hit their elbows on it? maybe make a slot for a cb radio inside and openings for an external speaker and for some sort of power source(s).

Late to the party here, but have you thought about building a base for it that would incorporate a new mounting point for the e-brake? This could allow for the brake handle to be closer to the driver's seat while providing more space for the console. You could also make it modular so that a buyer could get the base with the center console, or just get the base to mount a cooler (or similar) on to.

Have been driving with prototype 2 for a few weeks now after the angle change and have not done that once. Prototype 2 also has the mounting brackets/standoffs in it, which are usable for attaching things easily (like a CB). We like to stay away from "one size fits all" designs as they usually end up being "one size fits nothing", so making a slot for a CB will end up only fitting one model well, and somebody will always come along with a random CB from 20 years ago that's twice as big as anything on the market today and say it doesn't fit. Final product will indeed incorporate 12V power AND double USB.

Looked into that a little. Moving the brake handle would be a small nightmare so it's not happening, and the console is definitely not in need of any additional capacity (if that's what you mean).

That is a very interesting offering. I had a Tuffy in my old Suburban, could lock anything in that big ole vault. I routinely stored the steering wheel inside using a Grant quick disconnect. The LX450 kleenex box compartment is sorely lacking. That said, I've revamped my console and added so much stuff including 6x Cup Holders, a Satellite Dish mount full of RAM balls to hold tablet, phone, GPS, HAM, ScanGauge, Wit's End vault and even buried a 500W Inverter underneath.

I see a lot of potential in this guy. I'd look for a crap ton of mounting options if I were buying. The nutserts are a nice touch. I'd like to see RAM ball mount spacing along the front and forward/side edges where I could see Tablets, Phones, HAM Remote Heads being mounted. I could finally mount a huge fire extinguisher in reach of the driver without worrying about it flying around in the truck. :) My satellite dish mount showed me how nice it is to have so many mount points for RAM products up where I can reach them. Cup holders are a running joke, not the necessity a family of 4 has for water bottles and coffee cups on long trips. I'd make sure there were suitable accessories available. I was picturing some sort of slide out drawer on back for water bottles would be a nice touch. They could be retracted for hauling gear or sleeping if that space was needed.

An insert for the front to position boost/temp/air pressure/etc. gauges and/or remote HAM heads would be handy, angled up enough for the driver to see. Ideally, a bolt in insert with a bunch of knockouts for Carling rocker switches would be great, you could cram a ton across the front of that guy. Again, wiring channels would be ideal.

That would be a heck of a place to install your aftermarket alarm system too.

Inside I'd really like to see a decent fuse block to power multiple high current USB ports, a couple of cig outlets and what not. Maybe 6 positions with a good cable route and bulkhead points to secure the cabling. Be nice to have multiple conduit runs for signal cables or USB cables out to accessories. Burying a HAM, CB or Stereo inside would be great, I'd like to see some sort of bolt on grill/fan/blank mount cooling options in case someone got carried away. You could even mount an aftermarket stereo amplifier in there. Wiring conduit and cable management would be nice to see. Holster options, magazines, flashlights, knives and such would be great too. Something to insulate against noise and rattling would be handy.

Lastly, I hate the hinge on my console. It's such a pain to get into, especially when I have bottles in the rear holders. My Tuffy was even worse as the lid was HUGE. The Tuffy had a great locking mechanism but for anyone who ever tried to open one using your right arm, it was like trying out to be a contortionist. I always hit my arm on it coming back from opening it to reaching into retrieving something, then repeat the process trying to close it. It was even worse when I was trying to hold onto something I retrieved without hitting the lid or having it close on my hand. Not convenient whatsoever and it's kept me away from those consoles since. The lift strut is an improvement but reaching over a 15" long lid sucks. I'd recommend a sliding lid, something that slid backwards and out of the way. Easy peasy to get into the guts of the console. Best case would be a sliding/tilting option but I know that get's pricey fast.

Maybe flip to the side instead of flip to the rear? I dunno, just putting ideas out there.

That is a great question! Will need to find someone willing to bring there’s by to get torn out before it can be answered though. The idea is this is a complete replacement, so any mods you have done to the stock one would need to be adapted to this piece.

any pics of the V2?

Yes, in this thread: Delta Vehicle Systems goes to Overland

Will have to get some more posted up here though.

Maybe flip to the side instead of flip to the rear?

This was on the list of possibilities, but was riding in a Yukon the other day and that console works in this fashion. Passenger basically has no access to the thing, don’t really like that.

That’s a LOTTA feedback, thank you very much! Can you link to the specific mounts you are talking about? Some of your ideas are in the works, others, like you mentioned, are just too darn expensive.

pending the final look I'm very interested - it would be great if a section locked or had a quick button system for hangun storage ? I built in a console vault into my last 80's lower console...

The Console Vault

Are the Delta centre consoles configured to be used with RHD 80's as well? The only difference on the factory ones is that the plastic cupholder thingy mounts to the RHS on RHD and secures to a different M8 captive nut in the front cross-member over the transmission tunnel.

I've seen some custom centre consoles made from MDF, etc. but nothing that's really adding to the benefits of a factory one except some of the custom lockboxes that go inside one.

The only thing that might be an issue is that with manual gearbox 80's like mine a higher centre console could collect my elbow during gear changes. ;) Auto gearbox 80's don't get that problem IMHO.

We have access to a JDM manual, will fit up in there and get back to you on that!

Another one for RHD.....

I am all for a bolt in utilitarian center console. I would like it to have a few more angles and look a little more finished as the current design is a bit too ammo can-eske. Also having a comfortable foam filled armrest would be essential.

I'm def still interested in something like this but iirc from the price on your website it won't be in the cards for me for some time.

(Not to be confused with me thinking it's overpriced, just my reality).

Finally getting some time to push this project forward. Shifter console is next. First, incredibly rough, prototype has been cut on plasma and test fit. The ACC plate will be interchangeable, just seeing how much stuff can get stuffed into the space for now (not everybody is going to need the extra gauges for the @NLXTACY turbo kit). Blank (roll you own), all switches, all plugs, some of each, etc...

Starting with the 91-92 because it's larger. Going to make it so everybody gets the same base, and the top is interchangeable to fit the vehicle.
