The setup of using the kiwi wifi tool with the iphone with a number of apps looks cool. No cables to tie you down and graphics that look great and there seems to be more than one application.

The video is pretty good, I think she is talking about the tool

The website banner says iPhone/iPod/iPad, but I don't see Rev listed as an iPad appy...

Seems like there are cheaper devices on ebay that do the OBD II to wifi at half the price and run with the same SW

There is also another expensive option from Innovative Motor sports

Nice, while not as cheap compared to alternatives like the UltraGauge, it would be nice to have one less gauge in the truck, and instead use your iphone.

I didn't read the thread, but is there a iPad app out there with full screen OBDII monitoring? That would be ideal if I could replace my SGII.

Dang.... I wish I was a techie! This thing looks cool as hell but I am not sure I am understanding. If you already own an iPhone 4s, then you purchased one of these for $399 to go in your double din dash, wouldn't you have everything available on your dash screen that is available on your iPhone?

So, whatever movies and entertainment I have stored on my iPhone, I could watch on the dash screen?

Whatever map apps I have on my iPhone, I could use on my dash screen?

Whatever radio apps on my iPhone, I could use as radio on the dash screen?

Is this going to revolutionize car audio as we know it? Will there still be a need for a radio head unit? Dang I wish I was a techie and didn't have all these questions. I am old and all this new technology comes slow to me. I have trouble wrapping my mind around it. What are the pros and cons of this setup?

Close. If you look on the link and click 'Products' and then scroll down you'll see the compatible apps. The good news is there is MotionX Drive and DashCommand (an OBD-II tool) plus other entertainment apps. My guess is that over time this thing will bloom into more and more options. It's (relatively) cheap, allows for a rear cam input (which iPad doesn't), and allows complete control of the iPhone.

Better head units all use 4V pre-outs, a select few use an even higher voltage. (Better signal quality)

DONT DO IT! i thought it would be cool too, had it installed at best buy (they had an introductory deal) and used it for several days, it is just not all the way there yet. i went back after a week and had them uninstall. i think i might have left a more informative post in a different thread somewhere...

Interested to hear what you liked/didn't like about it.

over all, it seemed like an alpha design, not even yet beta. the interface was really rough, not all of the interface components shared the same design que's, almost like different departments were designing each component without any idea of what the others were doing. after you got into an app, you had to get out using the handset instead of the head unit, in order to get into anything else eg getting back to radio from map. no way to run two "apps" at once, ie no mapping while listening to the radio etc. there were many other issues, not all coming to mind right now, it was a few months ago. you can read more on amazon reviews, they (bad reviews) are all accurate.

beyond all that, the sound was cheap and only 2 RCA preouts.

all of this is surprising since pioneer also makes the AVIC which is probably the best iphone integration HU on the market. they have a great idea here, just a lousy integration. i would rather see a simple airplay to HU than what they've done with appradio.

you can use iCam for iPad backup camera... just need to wire up a IP cam.
