Hi,

I'm Claudia and when in AZ located in Fountain Hills. So far, I have wheeled mostly moderate trails (www.desertrider.net) and just recently acquired the Cruiser (pictures on our website under 'what's new'); love it already. I'll watch the forum for events and will join whenever I can make it (was scheduled for the TipTop Mine run with Garie Chavez that ended up being cancelled due to high water). Hope to meet all of you soon.

hey, im sorta new i guess. I just baught my fj40 like 4 days ago. Already did some stupid things in it. lets just say sence i have never owned these guys before i underjudged them just out of a lack of experience with trucks in general. My truck is a 1970 it is red with alot of chrome hinges and stuff. Its pretty original. My first experience was with two guys in the lowes parking lot in cali and i decided to go over the island to show a little of what my rig could do and ended up banging my springs up. But lets just say I was the only truck that ever got over that island . Everyone else got stuck. Well i was proud of that ( even though it was really nothing it was fun). It cowboyed up pretty well and took some cement with it. I just gotta learn how to drive it the right way when "offroading". This is the toughest vehicle i have ever owned. Second in line would have to be my 79 maro. anyways i need to get some guy friends together ( they know hhow to 4x4 ) and go with them on some trails. I am having some trouble posting pictures so if anyone here has any suggestions on how to do it. I would really appreciate it. thanx

Oh in the post above my real name is Rachel.

Wow! Welcome ladies!!
Rachel, to post a pic, click on the "send reply", when it changes to the page, you scroll down to the "manage attatchments" bar, then it goes to another page, and you'll see a "browse" bar, click on it, that will take you to your files in your computer. Highlight the pic you want, click on "open", then click the "upload" bar. It's prolly a little different than that, but that's the general jist.

Thanks cruiserhead and freightdog for your messages. Looking forward to meeting you all. Claudia

PS: Michael maintains the website, can't really claim more fame than being out there, listening to tech talk that can bore a wife to pieces, taking pictures, occasional spotting duties and riding/wrestling the 'Cruiser, even up that steep mining road by Bumble Bee on my second day ever of wheeling it. Got up real well, needed only the rear locker. Now, coming down was another story: got somewhat tippy in one spot, the left front leaning into a deep rut, back right lifting, front tires not moving an inch with the weight of the truck on them no matter how much I yanked - at least if it tips, it's towards the hill, not downhill and over. And then, over the CB, I hear from a buddy of Michael's way ahead in a tricked out K5 truggy having done all of it in 2WD with a welded rear on Superswampers telling me - from quite a distance - something like "the counterintuitive thing is the way to go: never mind it wants to go over on the side, just step on the gas and get out of there". Mind you, we are looking steep down a hill in an off-camber situation. What was I to do..........but it worked. Granted, Michael helped stabilizing by pushing on the roll cage to keep it from tipping. Wheeled some more the following days, including some other steeps in 'The Rolls' by Saguaro Lake, even one where the wreck of some pickup in the wash below attested to unfortunate outcome. I just have to learn more tricks for wheeling a manual transmission. In contrast to the 'Cruiser, Michael's truck feels more like a Crown Victoria.

Took the liberty of merging the Welcome and Introduce yourself threads.
Seems we have a few sticky topics of late. Hoping to cut down a bit on the clutter.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Robin I live in the east valley and have a 1965 fj40 with a funky jungle paint scheme I am sure some of you will see me around. I am new to cruiser and was big into cjs but the wife loves the look and style of the 40 over the cj5. cruiser is all stock with 134K and factory three on the tree. It is not fast but it gets you there. It would be great to have a week night where everyone gets together at a local parking lot and exchange ideas and check out rigs!

Robin,
Where in the east valley? I'm out in EAST Mesa.

elliot and meridian here. We'll have to get together for some beers.

Actually that's an open invite to anyone who happens to be in the area at any given time. Give me a shout to see if I'm home and we'll kill a couple.
