I was on vacation for the past week and a half, now that I am back I will start the process of getting this into a reality.

Dangit, now you tell me. I replaced the discontinued "flavorizer bars" in my grill last sunday w/ some mild (304?) SS. Used the grill once and the SS is discolored but not rusted. Hope it lasts a little while.I would agree with this-I used some 304 and 321 SS angle(1/4") on my BBQ grill as the burner heat diffusers--they look like regular rusted steel after about a year-and it doesn't get to near the heat of the exhaust--maybe 404 or 416?
Aluminized steel is ok, but I don't really like using it all that much. Up here in MN the stuff lasts 3-4 years rusts out really bad in the welded areas. What's the verdict on aluminized steel?

It looks like SOR has a full set up for pre 74 FJ40s for about $350 plus shipping. Not sure your year of truck but they may have other options as well. Worth checking them outchecking back on this thread from a few years back. Anyone making SS exhaust for later model fj40 to replace OEM in factory shape? looking to connect the factory Cat and Factory Muffler.
thanks -max
As @mrboatman stated, I had the same initial annoyance. I emailed SOR and they assured me it was on purpose. I fitted it on the truck and it seems to all be sealed and running well.I have an SOR down pipe, haven’t installed yet. Here’s what it looks like….. the only thing I didn’t like is, it looks like the flange ring isn’t parallel to the pipe end….. once I get in there and fit it up, I’ll create a post.
