My wife and daughters got me a 50" curved light bar and the YodaTeq mounts. Attempted the install on Wednesday. Initial impressions were, cool looking mounts, nice hand written personal thank you note from Frank, but no instructions. I figured, no biggie, I'll go on the website and get them, only to find that the only instructions are for the ECL Kits. Ok, no instructions, fit on the A pillar, pics on website show generally where they should mount, shouldn't be an issue. I mocked up the mounts to the bar and slid it in position. Marked and drilled the holes and pop-riveted them mounts. What I found was that the mounts weren't flat on the A pillar when it was mocked up, and the distance between the mounts was approximately 54" once they were installed. Looking at the pics on the website, the mounts look like they are tight to the A pillar, which mine are about 1" away at the tight bend around the gutter.

After a lot of messing around, I decided to contact Frank at YodaTeq to see if I could get some help. I was pleased to find that his customer support was a cell phone # with instructions to text or call. So I text Frank my dilemma along with the specifics. (ie: 50" curved light bar, '94 LC, etc) I was pretty upset that I just drilled 4 holes in the A pillars and the install was obviously not going to work and expressed this to him, along with my concerns that my mounts looked different than the ones in the website photos. His initial response was to ask if I installed 50" curved light bar. From there the texts were very non-specific. Did you mock up the light bar? and 'we have not changed the design of these mounts'. He then asked for photos and 'Where are they different?' I was getting more frustrated as it seemed that I wasn't getting support. I expressed my disappointment to Frank and he followed up with 'I'm sorry you are disappointed. I have sold many of these mounts with successful installs and satisfied customers'.

I sent some photos of the one mount I still had installed and he asked for a photo of the 'complete install'. I explained (again) that I couldn't do a complete install since the mounts were too far (~54") apart. He text me back that he thought I had them mounted too high. I explained to him that the further DOWN the windshield I went the wider the mounts got. He then text "The mounts fit a 50" curved bar'. (Weird?) His last response explained that once I attached the mounts to the bar, I would see. I sent him a bunch of pictures after that and he has chosen not to respond anymore.

I did a search here and on Google for these mounts before I installed and found no info/reviews/etc. There are no reviews on his website for these either. The above is my review. I did get the mount installed. It took a little 'adjusting' of the mounts and ended up much higher (light is above the roof) than the photos on his website, and the exact opposite of his Customer Service advice. My suggestions would be: 1) include instructions of general location and hints for a good install. 2) Work with your customers instead of just telling them that the product should work.

Where are the pictures? I would think this would be pretty straight forward. Bolt mounts to light, put light and mounts on truck, mark the location, remove light and mounts, drill holes, attach mounts? Am I missing something? And every light maker is going to be different so 50” curved from rigid will mount differently than VisionX, eBay, etc.

Depending on what model your 80 is and what trim package you have. There is a trim piece that runs along the length of the pinch weld up there. This could be what's causing your issue. The photos @ Yodateq don't have that trim piece attached.

Do you think it's probably because of the light bar itself and not the mounts? They all have different mounting widths from my experience especially when dealing with all these no-name Chinese lights. I've bought two 30" light bars from different vendors and even though they looked identical, there was a 2~3" difference in the mounting width.

Take some pics of where you are at and post them up. There will be a solution, you might just need another set of eye on it

I agree with all the above comments. All light bars measure differently. My China made pos curved light bar measures 48”! So I did like mentioned earlier.... bolted mount to light, set it on A pillars so that I had even gaps, scribed mounting holes, and Viola! Done!
*pics will get you rock solid advice on fixes. Good luck!

Did you put the light bar in between the mounts and take a picture of the gap? Pics would help here. Maybe we can fix it
Didn't you read that wall of text?

Pictures? We're going with the thousand word route here. ;)

The bar is installed. I adjusted the mounts a little (ie: bent them). I understand and agree with what was said above. The point of my post was that the info you all provided would have been helpful as instructions or tips included with the mounts or as follow up customer service. The only thing to go by was the photos on the website and they ended up mounting different (much higher and not as close to the body) for me. I as very surprised and disappointed with the customer service.

Are we customer service?

We can get that fixed up for ya', but we are going to need pics. Pretty sure none of us had anything to do with your transaction and the only way we can help is to explain how to get you going, based on what we can see.

Red, not sure I understand? I posted my experience with the installation and customer service at Yodateq. I appreciate the feedback and suggestions. Again, the light bar and mounts are installed and I was disappointed in the customer service from Yodateq. Also figure that someone else may appreciate the input in the future since there’s little info available on these mounts. Thanks again everyone.

Were quite interested, but it is hard to have anything insightful to offer without a better understanding (aka: some pictures, not that you hadn't heard that a lot already)

There may be a simple fix or someone on mud near you who can weld or modify as needed.

I built my own rack and essentially burnt the brackets on with the light bar attached and the bolts inaccessible to prevent it dissapearing at night. You may have an opportunity to improve upon things if your creative in your situation.

It seems like you may just need longer bolts and some spacers, something you could easily source without an instruction manual, if your bar is a different size than designed for, than that isn't really the vendors responsiblity.

I'm a bit surprised by your requirements for instruction manuals and customer support for something that basically requires two bolts to install.

LIGHT BAR IS INSTALLED ;). Has been since my initial post. Cody C - thanks for the input. Maybe if Yodateq included your instructions “Install 2 bolts and you’re dome” things would have gone a bunch smoother.

I had a “no instruction light bar bracket” one time. Mounted the bar to the brackets and put it on the truck until everything lined up. Tough with only one person.

I think his light is already installed.

He was just sharing his experience.

That is all.

So your just venting? Since you failed to say the light bar was installed in your initial post?? Those asking for pictures were trying to help.
Welcome to Mud

As a vendor I have some input...

I’m a one-man operation so when it comes to instructions I rarely don’t bother because:
* I’ve linked the MUD thread where there is a 100 page running total of everything from the selection of the ore the metal was mined from, all the way to the particular depth of the laser etching.
* If my products need instructions I MIGHT post them on the purchase page.
* If my products still need instructions it means I ****ed up the design because I try VERY hard to think things thru for someone who might not be intuitive
* finally, I may not include instructions because I have no time to make them and the design is so obvious that if someone can’t figure it out (given everything I put into the product design), then maybe I’m dealing with a person that should not be installing anything and they should just find a trusted shop.

Luke - I most certainly said it was installed in the initial post along with a few other posts. I also stated that this was my experience that I was sharing.

NLX - I appreciate your perspective. With that in mind, I will assume that you do not list your cell phone # along with “call or text if you have any questions” on your website for contact as Yodateq does?

As most can attest, I will take calls 24hrs a day. And yes it’s my cell ;)
