I just pulled the trigger on this awning. It gets mixed reviews with most complaints focusing on the hardware being cheap. Reviews of the fabric and storage case are surprisingly good. A visit to Lowes should fix any hardware issues. We will see. I'll do a review when it comes and I get it installed. At less than $100, if it turns out to be decent, I may get a couple more for my other roof rack equipped trucks.

that is quite a price reduction! Pics and good luck!
Yeah. I’m really late to the awning party because I never felt they were worth the $300+ that ARB and others were asking for them. This one may be total garbage, but I figured it was worth a try. Nothing ventured....

subscribed! Also intrigued to see which little piggie in the fleet does this get installed on. My guess is the 80, can’t recall which of the others have a rack... looks pretty legit from the pics

Looking at the pics I can’t tell any difference in it and my ARB. It’s probably the same Chinese company making them as the more expensive brands. Good find and definitely worth giving a chance.

I wouldn't mind picking up one of the larger ones for the 80. Hmm... buy it now or wait for an official review...o_O

Yeah the big ones are only $30-ish more. This one is supposed to be on my doorstep by Thursday. I’ll get on it as soon as I can once it’s here. I fully expect to have to fab my own brackets and replace some hardware with stainless bolts and lock nuts. There were some comments about the fabric sliding out of the channel on the beam that the legs attach to. I’m assuming that pinching the aluminum channel on the ends should cure that.

If you don't like it, you can always return it to Walmart.

Damn Walmart is fast! I ordered on Friday and the awning was on my doorstep today! I have installed the awning and deployed it. It’s a good deal for $94. Don’t hesitate to buy for this price. The L brackets seem sturdy to me. Brackets bolted right up to my Bowfin rack using some stubby M6 bolts slid into the T channel slots. It looks like they fixed the issues that folks complained about regarding hardware (specifically lack of nylon nuts on bolts). Mine had them. The only flaw I found was that the awning fabric was installed upside down on the truck side extruded aluminum channel. I had to remove an end plate (two screws), pull the fabric out of the bottom slot, flip it over and slide it into the top slot. Then re-install the end plate. Took me 5 minutes to do this. The rest is cake. It seems sturdy enough. It’s definitely not ARB sturdy, but it’ll do fine. It got dark on me so I’ll take pics tomorrow. If you’re on the fence, this one is a go in my book.

I found this review on Youtube for an awning that looks exactly like the one I bought (except it looks like he got the bigger 8x8 awning). The reviewer complained about the bolts spinning in the main mounting channel. Mine did not spin. The reviewer also complained about the flimsiness of the mounting hardware and at the end of the video he shakes the whole thing and it does look wobbly. However, if you notice, he chose to mount his L brackets near the center of the awning and not out at the ends. I mounted mine at the ends and it is rock solid. The reviewer complained about the arms and legs being flimsy, and they are, but if you look down in the comments someone posts that the ARB arms and legs fit this rack just fine. They are about $12/each from ARB. If I ever have a problem, I'll upgrade the arms and legs with the ARB pieces and rock on. I think the main take-away from all this is that it's not an ARB quality awning. It's for occasional use and you need to be somewhat gentle with it. If it does break, you can upgrade it with ARB parts. Here's the Youtube review:

I watched that video after you posted up that you had bought one, and had the same notes from it. Looks like I might go for it also, but the big 'un.

I have noticed that the 8x8 used to be 121.95, but now it is 146.95 on the website. Wonder if they're cookie tracking me...🍪

Man that’s awesome that you are pleased with the awning Dave. Great find!

Looks great to me, I assume the fabric is also on par? Quality looks nice from the pics. Would be a nice addition to the 40,55, or the 60 before the relic run!

I have a feeling the 80 will be our base camp at the Relic Run. I'm trying to convince Amanda to drive it and hang with us. I'll drive either the Crockpot or the Turd. Sadly, the 55 is not going to be ready:(.

@roadstr6 There's a chance that, if I make it to CRR, I won't be bringing a truck. Let me know if Amanda wimps out and we'll see if I'm able to help your logistics.
Will do. Thanks, John!

Looks solid and affordable. Maybe replace that yellow "rope" with some paracord?
