Yikes! Glad to hear you're ok @brownfox. Pictures never show the real angles.

my condolences, one moment your out for a drive and the next your wondering if your bleeding, looks like the airbags did what they are designed to do. glad the family was not with you and you didn't lose any limbs,

Oh man that's terrible, glad you are okay and able to post on here. Does insurance cover stuff like this?

It effing better. Lol. I when I added my 88 to my insurance I told my agent, this is an off road rig. If it gets wrecked it’s going to be off roading, “will full coverage, cover that?” His answer was yes. No reason to think it would be any different for the LC.

Calling my agent first thing in the morning.

It should be covered. I'm a claims appraiser for one of the big 5. I write claims every day for ATV's/Motorcycles and Trucks that have been damaged off road. As long as you aren't in a sanctioned event or practice, you are covered.

Cool. How does it work with my wheels and tires and stereo stuff?

I can just put all the stock stuff back in right?

All depends on your endorsement. If you have no endorsement, you get usually 500 bucks in "aftermarket coverage". You'll have to double check with your specific carrier, but as long as you have them value the vehicle with stock parts, then you are perfectly ok to remove any and all customized parts. As long as it has the original part, you won't lose any value, and unless you have the receipts for the purchase of the wheels/tires/stereo they will be depreciated as if you had installed them back when the truck was new. You almost always 100 percent better off to install the original parts and keep your upgrades for the next build, or sell them off to a fellow mud member.

Did the rear bumper fall off after the accident or are you driving around without one to begin with?

My bumper, (technically bumper cover) was already off. I had just bought a sheet of steel to begin my bumper build.

Glad to see you are not hurt. Now you can buy it cheap from insurance and go off road without fear of damages

Thanks for sharing. Deep terrain valleys and backing up are tough. Looks like you didn't have much room for error before things got tippy.

I assume you had the curtain airbags "on" since driver's side deployed. I get the impression a lot of people turn that off when off-roading, but it seems like it was a good thing here.

I wanted to remind those of you with the recall on the side airbag 2003-2006 to get that done. I had it done a while back and Lexus provided a loaner for 3 or 4 days, snacks, coffee, wifi and it was a free recall

NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V065000
Manufacturer Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
Components AIR BAGS
Potential Number of Units Affected 320,409
Summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2003-2006 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470, 2005-2006 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, 2004-2006 Toyota 4Runner and Lexus GX470 vehicles equipped with side curtain-shield-air bags. The affected vehicles have an air bag control module that may be improperly programmed, causing the side curtain-shield-air bags to deploy inadvertently.
Remedy
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the air bag control module with one that has improved programming, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-271-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is G0C and GLB.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Dang. I just waited on mine until they rushed the job so I'd stop eating the cookies.

Well, got my stuff out of it, tow truck is going to get it out of my driveway tomorrow I think. Thursday I should have an offer on what they will give me for it.

I've already found a '16 4Runner Trail Premium that I should be picking up tomorrow. Well, at least doing the paperwork and pick up later. Busy week.

As much as I've dug into this and invested in it, I can't bring myself to buy another 100. I had longed for a cruiser for a while, and put so much effort into learning about it and how to maintain it. I was seriously proud to tell people I had a LC, but I missed my 4runner, and the 2016 Trail I drove just felt like I was home. I want the cheap parts availability and huge aftermarket support. My last daily driver wasn't a project, and the LC turned into way more of a project than I thought it would.

I'll be sticking around here, I've got a few sticker ideas to throw out, and I still owe someone one.

Every time I have gotten coverage on a land cruiser they have specifically stated that off road is not covered. Though I am not with any of the " big 5"... probably

Just a heads up to anyone whose insurance agent says that off-roading is covered - get it in writing. From what I've seen it is explicitly excluded on policies.

However if you're on a established "ROAD" albeit dirt and weren't driving on it with the intention of off-roading, you should be fine...but don't quote me on that. Coverage varies, but I've seen this get people coverage for stuff like this.
