Hi all

I got a genuine recon alternator from Toyota yesterday and it’s reading 13.75v idle and 13.45v under load with heating, radio and full beams on

Is this ok please?

Seems low to me!

Looks good.

BTW: You did move to new alt, the wire hanger bracket, didn't you?. So many don't know they need to, then lose it returning core.

Then it's on the wire, or someone removed it in the past. My guess on the wire, since capture thread look clean.

In picture above I posted. You can see the wire has the retaining clip (no bracket). That clip, fastens into bracket. Sometimes, when I remove an alternator. I leave the bracket attached to retaining clip and hanging on wire. Then install bracket/bolt in situ as I install alt.

The engineers felt the need for bracket, to stabilized wire/lug/stud/nut on alt. So I like to see them on.

I've looked for this bracket before and the closest thing in the parts catalog I could find is what they call "splash guard" (27280-50010). The drawing doesn't quite look like the photo but does show an ovalized hole like the one in the pic. Furthermore, the catalog says some 100's came with the splash guard and some didn't.

Thanks

One of the wires had a soft rubber cover

One of the wires had a hard plastic clip on cover

And one was a steel plate with two wires bolted on if I remember correctly. So maybe this was a modified version?

It’s a Jap import LC Cygnus 1999 so maybe a different design

am I safe leaving it be or is it a vital part?

Doesn't look correct, since shows a nut. A bolt is used.
