BP,
Welcome back to the fray!!!
Haven't read the whole thread, responding to page 1, but I'd do a new 60 series body!! Its classic, functional, easy and looks BAD ASS!!

Keith

I love my iroks, but the pit bulls are bad ass!!

Trying to decide on some steel rims and some diy rings or just splurge and do some aluminum bead locks... Going the steel route is about half the price and kinda goes along with the theme of the build.

Oh, pretty darn sure I found a donor body now too.

Yap..
Not like it used to be, but I check in from time to time.
This build might get me back here regular, though.
Can't wait to see what you come up with!!
Re. The back half of a 60 series, like tapages rig.... I do REALLY MISS the comforts and DRYNESS of an enclosed cab!!! Just a thought.

Steel bends, aluminum CRACKS!!

Aluminum rims can last a very long time on an off road rig..

Most racers use them..

The new rims for my 40 are Aluminum.

Those are niiiiize!!
Aluminum freaks me out a bit. I have a HUGE dent in my steelies that have held a bead flawlessly where a hit like that may have been fatal for an al. Rim.

I'm just happy to get rid of my heavy hummer 12 bolt beadlocks!!!

Got mine from Dave at davesoffroadsupply.com. Found him on Pirate and his pricing is very competitive. Just placed another order with him today. Send him a PM for pricing.

I was too.

Another vote aluminum. Besides you said you weren't really into the hard core rock crawling anymore, plus they are 42s so you've got lots of sidewall for protection and those are already heavy so save yourself a hernia.

12 bolt H1s are pretty nice though :D

Steel is heavy, but at least the weight is way down low right?

Another Alum vote .. even with my alum wheels

I have very hard time putting my spare back up there alone ... and my combo is very light ..
