I'm back with another big block, doubler, one ton build. (1 Viewer)

Just a thought, but I think Esh still has that 70-series body over at his place...

Now that's an interesting idea... Although Esh has been ignoring my requests to buy his 45. Maybe he'd be more willing to part with the 70 series body. Not sure how that'd look or be streetable with 42s/full width one tons. The other issue is how to shoe horn the big block into that engine bay.

Anyone have any pics of a 70 with tons and big rubber? I'm not talking about this pic either:

I'm sorry but I could not help myself from doing this. Let's have fun.

I miss that thing despite the many short comings it had. I hope the current owner went through it and did it justice... I was in such a hurry to get that thing completed that I didnt spend the time it deserved in some areas. I always intended to go back and fix some of the shortcuts I had made but due to the circumstances, never got around to them.

Thanks for the memories... this next build wont be as exotic as that one but it'll be good.

These were a few of my favorite shots of it:

glad you are back with us .. ! :D

first thing that I would ask myself it's how much time I have and how much time I can dedicate to this project ..

Coz cutting the body and putting a roll cage on it for a soft top like Tencha could be fast .. but at the same time have details that are time consuming. Another part of the story it's the custom soft top .. since it's wet and cold there you want it to be as good ( tight ) as possible .. that would be the key to make you and your family able to enjoy it..

Then the secure option it's new body ..

Keep us posted !

You aren't going to find too many pics of 70's with big tires because most of them are in countries that regulate tire size.

What has changed in the tire dept? I was thinking some pitbull rockers? What is the latest and greatest right now?

Not much new in the tire department. I'm going with MT/R Kevlars next (now that my bias Iroks are done) but I was really considering the Rocker. It came down to price for me. I think you would be happy with Irok, Rocker, or MTR.

That is quite a rig but I'm not into doing a build like that at this point. I want to get this thing up and running and on the trail. I'm really going to do my best not to over complicate this right out of the shoot. Tires, wheels, body, cage, wiring, fluids, run it like a stole it.

Maybe this will transform into something like the link you provided but not yet. This one is going to be :hillbilly: for now.

Pitbulls, Maxxis Creepies, BFG Crawler Red Labels, in no particular order.

I can't wait to see what you do with this rig :D Your last build was a big inspiration to me, you and Mike both! This pic shows the similarities best IMO:

wow... that is a beast! That has come a long way. I'll have to go back through your build soon.

Found my tires and I'll hopefully be picking them up tonight. I still need some wheels though. Suggestions? Needs to be a 17" rim. I cant remember what I ran for backspacing on my old rims. Mike, what backspacing are your rims?

That pic above is with 3.5" backspaced wheels and they're either 10 or 12" wide, can't remember. Axles are full-width chevy SRW.

Front axle is a Dodge D60 so 67.5" WMS

Rear axle is C&C 14B so 63" WMS originally, bumped with 2" spacers so 67" WMS total

Rims - Standard H2 rims at 5.5" backspacing
