Extremely long time lurker here. For once I might have something to contribute rather than leeching off everyone's knowledge.

I got Techstream to work on my M1 Mac with the downloads linked in the OP and this cable off Amazon.

Like others, I got stuck with getting Techstream to open and recognize the connection. In the end, I found a second image of the Techstream program in the start menu. Using that second launch button, I was able to get into Techstream (ignore any prompt to add a product key) and switch over the USB preference to MVCI, which then allowed me to connect my cruiser to the Techstream app via the launch button on the virtual machine home page.
Thanks much for this post.

Just a tiny bit of disambiguation for others thickheaded like me. For those looking for the secondary launch option, use the one via the menuing system, IE Start -> Techstreatm -> Techstream. Once you change the connection method to MVCI, exit that Techstream. Then launch again using the desktop Techstream.

Can you change the maintenance date in Techstream?

Currently I have an '08 200 series and the last year that can be used is '24.

Hi guys, I have read through a fair chunk of the thread and firstly wanted to say thank you!

I am having an odd issue though. I can only start the VM in safe mode.

I am running it on a dell win11 laptop and have enabled all virtualisation settings in the eufi BIOS on the host. I had to install VS sudio redistributable and python etc all went well. Even in safe mode I was able to go into the VM as administrator and was able to test the cable connection fine, I just cant get the damn thing to boot up in normal Windows :)

Anyone able to help here? I have tried to find an error in Virtual box, but couldn't see anything that jumped out (like the virtualization settings issue posted a couple of pages back.)

EDIT# I got it to work after deep diving on the virtualization layer in Windows. Ended up having to download the DG_Readiness tool and had to run it in powershell by navigating to the directory (within PS) and running the command ./DG_Readiness_Tool_v3.6 -Disable -AutoReboot once I did that I was greeted with a couple of screens after BIOS I disabled everything.

This was AFTER attempting to disable core isolation etc from other walkthroughs

I am running Techstream on a 64 bit windows 7 laptop. I have installed all of the software successfully and have been able to get my 2001 LX470 to connect by using the 65 bit driver. However, when I get to the menu to select the vehicle model code, the screen gets locked and then flashed the choices momentarily and shuts down. Any ideas on what may a cure might be?

Turn Off Wifi and try again. 65 bit driver?

Good to know. The Techstream process has been a little frustrating. I have tried a 32 bit windows 7 machine, a 64 bit windows 7, a newer Intel Mac, 2 cords and this is the closest I have been to making it work. If I can just troubleshoot this last challenge I think it will work but I am out of ideas

Ok, search is failing me. And I need help from the hive mind.
Have Techstream working on virtualbox ad using the image from the link in the first post.

I have this cable.

Tried this on my friends 98 TLC and my 00 LX both do the same thing.

TS connects and pulls the make/model/year/engine every time but not the VIN and from what I've seen it should.
All that it pulls up system/ecu wise are the Engine and ECT - Cruise Control - ABS/VSC/TRAC - Immobilizer - SAS Airbag

(update: Info was wrong, I wasn't actually selecting a Lexus.)

I can enter in the VINs manually and thankfully you can just save them since you just use the sane VM each time.

But anyway, nothing else.

Is the cable to new? It says frimware 1.4.8 on the listing.
Checked with the the image provided in the first post. It says its 1.4.1.
Will it auto pull the VIN after I manually enter it the first time, and will at least doing that make TS show all the systems on the trucks?

All that it pulls up system/ecu wise are the Engine and ECT - ABS/VSC/TRAC - Chassis Elec - SAS (These may be wrong, will correct in morning when I check his truck again.) Not even AHC on mine. Yes it does work. Up/Down. All firmness settings.

But anyway, nothing else.

Unsure on the AHC but otherwise the systems you mentioned are all what's available on earlier models.

Run Health check to check for stored codes and clear. Active tests are available also when needed
Yea manually enter VIN if possible

Will do when the sun comes up.
And update as needed.

It looked like I was able to manually enter the VINs but didn't try cause we are trying to diagnose what we now believe is a bad electrical connection to the ABS motor on the TLC.

Ok, confirmed you can enter in the VIN manually but it doesn't remember it.
Nothing new on his TLC but like was said oldest 100 MY so it might just not have anything else.

TS also gives this message when I type in the VIN. Not sure if its supposed to "connect" since old version and all.
Canti TS2.PNG

But now moving to the LX and will update.

Update:

So it looks like I was a moron.
I hadn't noticed that even when entering the VIN TS was actually only getting the year right. It was still set to Toyota and LC. :bang:

After changing it to Lexus and LX470 even without the VIN everything was there.

So yes, 100% PEBKAC issue.

Error message is due to not being connected to internet which is correct for this application so you’ll see that everytime you run health check
