not enough disk space is definitely something you want to eliminate as a possible cause.
yeah, I know. cleaned that up a bit and now have 37Gb of space, should be enough, but when the screen with WinXP shows up it stops doing anything few second after.

My tecstream keeps closing down when i try go to costomize menu does someone have solution to that

This is very long thead an maybe my question and answer is buried here somewhere but I'll ask anyway. I have a 2003 LX470 and a copy of techstream 12.20.024. I have no problem getting this version of techstream to interface with my LX BUT im missing the AHC information. Has anyone else had this problem on this year of LX470? Is there another version of techstream I should be using that has been succesful for the 2003 LX470? Much appreciated.

Fyi I took a chance and bought this off Amazon Canada and it reads AHC pressures. Shipped from China and available even cheaper on Aliexpress but I wanted Amazon’s buyer protection while I was taking a chance on it. It took 15 min exploring the menus to get the pressures but 5 min once you know how. I can help should anybody else buy this thing.

EDIT: the Amazon link I’d just added went to a more expensive model so here’s the model description for a google search…this thing is only $219 CAD on Amazon.ca and only about 70% of that price on Aliexpress.

“Launch X431 Elite OBD2”

I'm using a $35 ebay cable and it's working for AHC testing on a 2006 LX 470.
Search was Mini VCI with Techstream

But I haven't found the customize setting to get the AHC to go into Low when in Park. I need to figure that out for my wife.

Thank you for the response. Yesterday out of curiousity I tried my 12.20.024 version of techstream again. It interfaced immediately no problem. However this time at the screen that verified the make/model/year I changed the year to 2006 and pressed next. It continued to the main screen and there was the AHC ECU as well as a whole lot more ECUs that didnt show up in the 2003 model year! Definitely a more complete look at the system. The AHC values were all live and the additional ECUs worked perfectly. Why this is happening I have no idea but if someone knows the answer I would like to hear. Also maybe others who are missing ECU information could benefit from my experience. Thx.

Problem solved!

I spent a little time with it yesterday and started googling. One person on youtube has shown step by step and what I haven't been doing till now was turning off FIREWALL & NETWORK PROTECTION (DOMAIN/PRIVATE/PUBLIC) as well as VIRUS & THREAT PROTECTION ->REAL TIME/DEV DRIVE/ PROTECTION/.. AND ALL OTHERS. After turning off all of them the windows XP interrupted, but on the second try it asked me for an option START NORMALLY/SAFE MODE/SAFE MODE WITH COMMANDS... and I selected the safe mode. It did allow to fire the techstream and read all values incl. AHC. Techstream found the car itself; no need to select the model etc.

Cable I got: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ4C3TVM?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1

Now need to get the 30mm for the TBars.

What year LX470 is your truck?

My rig is a 2003. My son-in-law has the 2006 and has the same techstream version and same cable and had no problem. The Techstream recognizes my year but until i input year 2006 I was missing data. I also tried inputing 2004 and 2005 which produced the same available data as the 2003 year. Something about advancing the model year to 2006 enabled access to all my ECUs.

Interesting. Although having multiple Toyota/Lexus products in the past, this is my first interaction with techstream. Not sure how it works with older models but if making it different year works for you then I guess that’s the way to go .

Ran into an issue with Virtual Box (VB) 6.x build where the Techstream image (12.20.024 version) would refuse to launch and a error message would appear.
Upgraded/installed VB Version 7.0.2 r154219 (Qt5.15.2) on an old Mac Intel machine running macOS Big Sur v. 11.7.3 and this fixed my issue.

Is key registration a feature for the 1999 land cruiser on techstream? When I click on immobilizer tab, there are 4 features and none say Key Registration.. I've clicked on transponder code registration and try to initialize the process, I get a error message and code stored.. Here is a couple of snapshots of error message, and I also uploaded a small video on youtube...

My Techstream was working fine and not been used for a few months BUT

I come to use it yesterday and it was asking me for the Key. I copy and pasted the key however the screen went off then returned.

I tried to reset the time and date to 1/1/2024 and internet off and reboot to resolve the issue however it didn’t fix if

I then tried to uninstall the vm. Delete the program file. Then start to reinstall again with set date and time. However it didn’t fix the problem either!

Then I deleted the session box on the left side (to see if it was the saved computer state) however now can not even launch techstream or add a session! So it’s just the virtual machine but no access to ZS

And now even if I uninstall/reinstall, the screen remains the same and I cans add techstream to the vm!!

Very annoying after already what was working fine and took months prior!

Can anyone please help and let me know where I’ve gone wrong here?

Thank you!

Getting Techstream up and running can be a bit of a pain. Hopefully this helps someone get started quickly.

Step 1: Purchase an OBD-II / Mini-VCI interface.
- I have sold out of my cables and supply chains are back in order, so no reason to purchase more. Anything like this will work: Mini-VCI cable on eBay

Step 2: Download Hypervisor
Step 3: Install Software You Just Downloaded
  • Windows: Double-Click downloaded file
  • MacOS:
    • Intel Mac: Double-Click downloaded file, run installer
    • M1/M2 Mac: Double-Click downloaded file, drag to Applications folder

Step 4: Download TechStream Image:
- Windows / Intel Mac: LINK
- M1/M2 Mac: LINK

Step 5: Double-Click downloaded file.

Connect & Enjoy.

Edit (04/08/18): I removed the more expensive cable, as I received a new Mini-VCI cable that works 100% at 1/4 the cost.
Edit (02/28/21): Updated links to new versions of Virtualbox & new link to cheap Mini-VCI cable
Edit (10/30/22): M1 Compatible workflow / updated virtualbox links
Hello Getco

I am really struggling with installing ts and praying you’ll step in and help please?

Recently had it working fine after a month of absolute headaches

Have just come to use it again now few mo the later and it’s asking for the key. However when I copy and paste it just repeats asking me for the key

I uninstalled the thing and started fresh with a new install. However then lost the session on the top left within vm and now can’t even access ts

I uninstalled/reinstalled (again) however still didn’t accept the key. Then again and tried to delete the saved session however it now completely disappeared and I can’t even find ts to try and access. It seems to have the same saved state even after uninstalling and deleting the program file (oracle)

I’ve tried to install on another laptop but it says critical error and won’t even try to install

I’ve been over your thread a dozen times and can’t seem to find any replies that help me. Even following your basic step by step list

I can only find an exe file (page 1)
You mention an OVA file should be installed instead? However I can’t find this.

Can you please help?

It’s so difficult and frustrating beyond any other software issues I’ve had before temperamental and confusing!

Hope to hear from you
Chris
