I will delete everything and try again then
Because I don't know what exactly caused this to work I'll just pass this along:
  1. I didn't reinstall VMBox, and I had updated it to the latest at some point in the last week or so.
  2. I try to keep WiFi off when running Techstream - on the chance that it checks back with a server somewhere as part of its validation process, and also to avoid Windows XP viruses (even though I don't know what damage they could do in a virtual machine).
  3. I used the image in Post 1 of this thread.

Thank you I will try this procedure this evening and see if I have any luck...

I recently purchased the VCI J2534 cable, along with the Techstream 18 software + key in order to reset my VGRS (steering wheel is crooked, no VGRS light on the dash).

When connecting and running, I do not have an option to access VGRS in the System Selection Menu.

I've uninstalled and installed version 16, and still do not see VGRS.

Is this common?

I was fighting this for a few days on an Intel based Mac and finally went back and reinstalled the TechStream image, deleting the first image that I had been using. It worked then. Can't explain why that worked.
i have had the same issue says it needs to update. I tried with internet off and then it just said failed to connect to VCI

No idea of what’s up I guess I will redownload

I have exact same issues :(
Please lmk if you find a solve
Any luck? Sadly this is going to send me in to a shop for such a stupid issue.
No sorry I couldn't, I even tried uninstalling it, delete the techstream file reinstalled it, turned off the wifi for techstream to boot. Still no luck. I just used my old MacBook pro 2010 and download the links from the 1st page and it worked flawlessly for me.

I didn’t even think to try an old device. Planning to just surrender and take to Toyota dealer this week

Might try that as last ditch effort.

My device is a barely functioning 2015 MacBook Retina 12-inch with one USB-C port, its battery long beyond its shelf life (which the machine is constantly informing me). I can keep it going just long enough to do most jobs.

That’s the one I used to re-download the Techstream image from Post 1, and that ended all the drama about enter new ID, update Techstream, etc.

You can try disabling the network adapter in the settings of the virtual machine before launching it in UTM (Right click, settings, select network and remove) This will force the virtual machine to have no internet access.

Don't surrender, try old devices first.
Good news - did it!!! Thank you for the idea and extra push. Got out old MBP 2012 and it worked beautifully immediately - believe it or not dealer quote for doing this job for me...$350. But the software is slow, and it takes an hour or two with two guys (at least on my '03, some other years don't require bleeders open, mine does). My brakes don't feel any different, but I guess I have peace of mind and cleared codes with reset protocols for new ABS pump and such.

@getco you are a mad scientist and so cool you put these together, thank you (though I do recommend removing the M1 links, something just refuses to let that work right).

👌👌👌 No problem.

Hi All,

I installed the Virtual Box and followed the instructions in the first post.
Got everything to work and it connects to the vehicle.

But when I want to read the ECU for the ABS/VSC/TRAC it just keeps reading for over 10 minutes.
Looks like its not responding any more, or is the application just very slow and am I to impatience.

thanks

Solved it, the old version 8 and XP didn't seem to connect properly to the cable.
Found a source for Techstream v12, installed it on Windows 10 in the Virtual Box.
All works fine now, and I was able to preform a Zero Point Calibration.

Question - what was purpose of this reset. Just throwing a code?
I did this too when I recently replaced my ABS assembly but don’t know why lol just followed instructions

First, I want to thank @getco and all who put in the effort to get this done. I was not able to get Techstream V12 to work (it would not accept the key code), but there was a folder with V10 and that worked on my 2010 Venza.

Second, I see there is a V18 version out there. Am I missing any worthwhile functions by using Teschstream V10 instead of V18?

Thanks in advance.
