13 year old gas:
I think gas was better back then. They put all this ethanol crap in it now. Having said that I had gas sitting in my 1997 4runner for at least 3 years and it started up fine this fall. I put a gallon of fresh gas in to liven it up along with fuel stabilizer.

You can always just mix a gallon in to a fresh tank of gas at every fill up and use it up that way.

I have a 38 gal tank in my 60 and the 1st one I installed had a pinhole leak at one of the vent port welds. I only discovered it when it was FULL !! Try having to drain 38 gals !

Should have just welded it then while it was full given that liquid gas doesn’t burn ;)

You do it first and lemme know how it goes

Besides, it was a brand new tank and I wanted MAF to swap it out for a Pressure-tested unit.

I’ve heard lots of stories of people welding on full tanks but never seen it myself. It is true that liquid gas will not burn. I know if I tried it I’d level the neighborhood because my welding skills are really good at making even bigger holes.

I think the smart people fill the tank with water first.

Post it for free on Facebook Marketplace or the Craigslist Free Stuff section. It will be gone in under an hour, people go nuts over free stuff.

Just tow it to the homeless sector in your PNW town and pop the cap... They will suck it dry in seconds..............

I'd probably put some stabil or seafoam additive in it and run it in my lawnmower if it's not too bad.

Siphon it out and give it away. Poor people don't care how old it is and their cars don't either.

When I pulled the fuel filter it was 1/5 water. :) I haven’t found anyone to siphon it out yet but that’s still the route I’m hoping for, I don’t have any way to store or transport it and don’t want to spend money on that if I can help it.

Not sure where in Seattle you are but I have a 5 gallon gas can you are welcome to borrow to drain it. I’m over in Capitol Hill.

Please don't put gas in a kerosene heater. Even dead gas can make dead people if something goes wrong.

Dear God no one said to put gas in a kerosene heater. But some wise fellow DID suggest using the water filter to filter the water out of the gas...just like he does when filling his kerosene heaters.

Just a "heads-up" on disposing old gas at liquid waste disposal stations.

This past week I drained about 4 gallons of old gas from my 87FJ60 gas tank. Smelled bad and had root beer color. I used a 2.5 and 1 gallon gas cans and a 1 gallon old milk jug. You have to make an appointment to enter the liquid waste disposal station. When I got there I was told they would accept the waste gasoline but I would have to give up the containers I used. They don't have a container on site to pour the gas into. It was too far for me to go home and come back plus my gas cans were old so I just "donated" my gas cans to the liquid waste disposal station. Lesson Learned... call ahead and inquire if they have an "on-site" container to pour gas into or if your taking old gas to a waste disposal station make sure the gas is in "throw away" containers you can do without.
