Just a 350
So what's wrong with your motor? Or do you want more hp?

Why just a 350? Your motor is running is it not? I thought you were looking into different carbs?

I am just getting all the details I can. i rode in my neighbors 350 and was very impressed. When I take mine to a mechanic and if he tells me that the engine needs to rebuilt, this needs to be replaced and this and this then I may just opt for a swap.
Check your compression. Look at obvious manifold leaks, etc. Go to the OEM carb. Try these routes first.
Do this before a swap. If you're mobile and driving around the block give these a try first. Quite a few prefer the 2F over anything else. Of course there are just as many who would prefer a SBC. Good luck and keep us posted. Have we seen pics of the rig yet?

If I have a 4 barrel carb now and do not have any of the OEM stuff to switch back, how much will it cost me to switch back to everything OEM?

Are you looking to make this truck "better than stock" or just through in the cheapest set-up you can find.
Cheapest V-8 swap would be to find a used, running small block, spend about a $500 on incidentals,
another $600 on conversion pieces and 750.00~ 1000.00 on labor to a shop to R&R the motor. I doubt anyone will give you a turn-key set up for that much but they would probably pull the old motor, clean
up the frame, cut off the old mounts, and set in the V-8 and tranny. You'd probably be doing the wiring, fuel and coolant lines yourself. Then you'd still need to send it out for driveshafts and exhaust.
It will be faster for sure...but better? Probably not better off road overall. Better in sand and mud but
not in the rocks or in the slow going.
To make it better set aside ten grand. Injected motor, either an automatic with serious transfer case
options (orion, tcase doubler,etc.) or a granny gear manual. Upgrade the cooling, gages. Longfields and little wider stance is nice.

I see you plan on keeping the 2F (good choice).
But if you are dead set on a swap, skip the V8. Buy a Toyota Diesel. If you're going to spend that much money, why not do it to the nines? It is not cheap, but it is awesome.
That said, I'd try to keep the 2F, other than being inefficient, they are GREAT motors. And I'm sure some out there would even argue the inefficient part.

I did my 350 swap for about a grand. I bought just about everything off of Ebay and thru this board and did the work myself. The most expensive part was a long block motor at 650 bux. Granted that was about 6 years ago or so. You can pick up the parts rather inexpensively and do it yourself. Wiring was a pita for me but probably not for others who have done alot. The drive shafts had to be built due to the placement of the motor. Depending on how you want it setup you have to relocate the battery, and if you planning on PS I would install at the same time. Keep the AC compressor for onboard air. Cooling the engine has been a issue for some but not for me yet :} A couple of advantages to go sbc is power, parts availability and ease of repairs. Alot more mechanics can diagnose a 350 before they can the 2F but that has been my experience.

I bought a 95 4.3 from a blazer. It has as much power as a stock 350 carbed. Think I should have somewhere around 2,500-3 when I'm done. The engine was $600.00 and already had Jims performacne run throught the harness and cpu, he even flashed the chip for more hp. Do alot of research before you move forward. I looked for almost three weeks and still found things I wasn't aware of.

$400 All new clutch parts, rear main seal, and flywheel turning ( could of used old finger style though)
$30 engine hoist rental
better add
new water pump, fan and clutch, dual pulley
new alt bracket and alternator to move to the rh side so I can add PS
header
accelerator linkage

I'd Spend the money fixing what's broke,stock aisan carburetor/manifold,stock air cleaner etc. to start.

~$2K going from a burned-out 1F to a newly rebuilt 2F. I did all the tear-out and installation, and paid to have a machine shop actually rebuild the engine.
If I were to do it again I would go diesel (probably4bt or 6bt.) I am putting in a SM465 anyway, so the drivetrain swap was already going to happen.
