How much was your engine swap?

I just had a 350 built from scratch ( no core). Forged crank, new pistons, oil pump, mech fuel pump, heads, rings, rods, lifters, gaskets, thermostat, new clutch etc. The block was milled, honed and bored 20 over. Cost me $3,200. I'm sure I could've gone cheaper if I had enough time to research and get quotes from other shops. Kinda limited on time, leaving for deployment soon. Good luck.

BTW, I used my own carb, alt and power steering. Engine was installed and tuned. Good luck.

Great answer from Dusty 66. I am doing a swap now for a 2f for my 1969 fj40.
2F Engine $400
Rebuild 2F Engine parts $1500
This is just for parts so far. I expect the 4 speed for 3 on the tree will add $1,000 when all said and done. The Carb maybe under $250. Also need Hoses, radiator, Alternator, Water pump, etc....

realistic prices 2000-4500 depending on how hot you go with the motor and where you buy your adapters.

I'm set on a ranger torque splitter. It moves the engine forward, you keep the stock trans and mounts and you need NO ADAPTERS.

The set back is the upfront cost. 1500 bucks. You get another range; overdrive or underdrive. Pretty much bolt it on to your trans then bolt on a chevy bellhousing and clutch kit. You will need motor mounts but that's easy.

Did I mention you get an extra range???!!!! I'm going this route on the next bomber. No question about it. the toyota stuff nickel and dimes you to death and you need to wait for parts all the time. go SBC and be done with it, never wait for parts and get them cheap. Power and reliablity like no tomorrow Piss on the 2f, f 3f and your mamas f. they are all expensive outdated (by 50 years) boat anchors.

hi there i did mine and it was resonable because i did most of it plus i had the motor and tranny lying around but the cooling and all the other things cost alot it all adds up. whatever you think it is add about 1000. more but that depends how clean and what you use. sorry no set price. i would say if i had to buy everything it would be about 4 to 5 thousand?????????

You can argue it all day...The extra power of a 350 as opposed to a 2F comes down to only 2 things...gearing at traction and driver experience. Most of that is experience.

The power of the 2F is king it just costs :D

It cost me about $3000CDN to replace my B engine with a 3B. That included engine, transmission, t-case, rear axle and rear driveshaft. The new stuff had 4000km on it. Of course, that was back in 1983.
