Doing my front bearings today along with brakes (bearing kits from Crusier Outfitters, DBA rotors, Toyota pads)

I've read a ton of threads on this and watched a million YouTube vids, and I've also done it before on a '94 4Runner, but I have a question:

How much grease goes inside the hub in the "empty spaces?" Seems like I removed a 1/2 pound of old grease from the hubs yesterday.

I know how to pack the bearings, but I'm not sure if the inside of the hub gets globs of grease, or just a coating.

You can feel the cavity in there.....fill it up all the way. I use probably an entire tub of grease.

No worries. Just load it up. i just used some thick latex mechanics type gloves and just scooped it in. Its just a messy job.

The more grease the betta!

I used almost an entire tub of the Redline Wheel bearing Grease for both front bearings (one tub for both).

I should clarify...I used a tub in total in doing both sides. The tubs are bigger than the tubes so keep that in mind.

Yessir, same here. I have just the slightest little bit left in the tub myself. Loaded them up!

Leave a little air space for cooling proposes. Fill until just enough so grease with be forced into bearing as centrifugal force pushes outward as wheel spins. Be mindful of hinden air pockets as you pack. Not enough packing and grease will come out of bearings flowing into cavity, run bearings dry and burning them up.

alright I'll pack in in there....

now I'll have to figure out how to get the larger race in there as the biggest driver in the set I have is a hair too small. I guess a brass punch and a million taps will get er done. Eventually

Yup, just tap her in

Here's a great video on youtube that should help a ton.

You can set the hub assembly with bearings on its side and use a non-marring (I use brass) scraper and spread the grease like butter using the bearings (front and back) as a guide. If you ensure the grease is a bit below the scraper you will be fine.

The seal is very easy to install. I use a round piece of plastic and a few tapss with a dead blow hammer and it is in place.

What kind of grease do you use? I am getting ready to do my wheel bearings and need some recommendations

I use all Mobil 1 products (grease, oil & filter, gear lube and ATF), keeps it simple.
