Another vote for low tech. This folder is in my garage so it is always readily available.
I think potential buyers prefer this as it’s real compared to a computer doc that could be made up last minute

Sadly, so many of the apps mentioned are either fully gone/out-of-business or haven't been updated in forever. I'm still looking for a replacement for the app I've been using for 3 years - Drivvo. It's okay for gas mileage tracking and it has the capacity to record maintenance but no ability to track receipts.
Would be awesome if someone created an app using OCR to read in your receipts/records instead of just taking a picture of it...which sadly Drivvo doesn't do.

Wow, you guys are organized. I just write down what I did and the mileage on the wall of my garage. Right below it are all the phone numbers that I have written down over the years. I guess I am still stuck in the 20th century.

Just a suggestion: a month ago I discovered the “scan” feature from Dropbox. Super helpful when you don’t have a scanner. And if you do have a scanner, I’d say this method is faster. It makes scanning in documents super fast, especially for Dropbox.
Since learning about that and hearing your method, I’ll probably start scanning shop receipts and throwing them away

My LX was recently rummaged through. The thief emptied the center console including the tray, my kids collection of flattened pennies and my spiral maintenance notebook for the past 20 years. Therefore, I don't recommend storing your maintenance records inside the vehicle.
P.S. If anybody has a spare center console tray, I'm looking for one.

If you have iOS 15.6 you can use the native Scan Text feature to add to notes for maintenance entries.

I tried doing the spreadsheets but formulas kept getting more complicated and actively encouraged my neurotic need for tracking everything. So now, I just scan all my receipts for parts/services onto a thumb drive. Of course, the Toyota/Lexus visits are automatically recorded to the app. I also keep every single receipt down to the 197 trips to the local auto parts store for tools, fluids, or whatever else I got for the one job. These go into a binder with clear sleeves. This is completed with the super high-tech steno pad and fancy Pilot G2 pen 0.7mm 1.0 is too much and 0.5 is not enough (only in blue ink because I like blue ink) with dates, fuel purchased/consumed, and mileage. Binder is stored in the vehicle and the thumb drive is kept at home with the steno pad. I did keep a record of details/washes but I was told that was weird so I quit doing that cause I didn't want to be a weirdo anymore. But it does help to know if you have multiple vehicles when it was last washed or detailed.

I'll bee the odd man out. I dont keep track of it. I change the oil/other fluids at regular intervals and replace things as needed along the way. I keep receipts in a pile in the top of my tool box. I know the vehicle is maintained correctly. If the future owner has a problem with it then maybe they should by a new car and be meticulous about records instead of a 17 year old Toyota with 220K miles on it lol

I had grand plans that ”this one would be different” and I would keep good maintenance notes, but I am 5 months into this handy and all I have is a nice blank notepad. I like the idea of capturing receipts in photos. I had not considered that, but that may allow me to go digital... but i also like the tip for using the .7 point pen. I have gone all the way down to a .385, and it is like writing with a shadow. It is like writing with a mechanical pencil that ran out of lead.

Shadow writing is a lost art. Like hand forging your own "pew pew" boom stick parts. The old timers forgot to pass down the cool stuff to us young thundercats.
