How Do I remove This? SOLVED

I’m hoping someone much more mechanically inclined than me can offer a tip for removing this recessed threaded nipple. A PO removed the air rail from my ‘72 FJ40 simply by cutting the tubes and pinching them off. I’d like to do a cleaner job by removing this part and putting in plugs. Any advice you can offer is appreciated.

Is there enough clearance to fit a deep thin wall socket over it?
I’ll get one and try though the one in the photo looks a bit rounded over. I may have to try brute strength and put vise grips on the threads. I just didn’t want to destroy it in case I was unsuccessful and need to put the tube back on.
 
Back in my aviation days a Snap On would fit in a recess hole that an SK Wayne wouldn't even start. +1 soaking with Kroil, then a good heat cycle with a propane torch and another soak with Kroil.

You could make/buy an expanding extractor to fit inside the fitting and apply torque to the thicker section of the fitting where the wrench flats are on the outside.

Drill/ream then tap the inside of the fitting and install a plug in that.

Yes it is brass or bronze. Seems fairly soft. I’m going to go with the thin wall socket suggestion first and hope for the best.
 
Jim C. sells a set of correct plugs at a very reasonable price.
Correct is a loose term, haha. They are NPT plugs for a BSP thread....they work fine, but they aren't.............correct ;)

Toyota sells the correct ones and they are great when paired with nickel antiseize.

You may have me there, I did throw that term out fairly recklessly. But I am skipping Pebble Beach this year. Jim C. sells it, I figure it's what he uses, I want it.

Ha, just being pedantic. As one who removed/reinstalled air rails for smog, the NPT was not ideal. The factory plug is much better and easily removed, vs jamming a slightly off pipe plug in the hole.
