tlcruiser66, from the pic, it looks like the mount is on the windsield, not the on the cowl. If so, this means the windshield can't be lowered. Will the mount work on the cowl position?

I like this position better than my bumper mount, but I can't get the screws free, and I don't want to strip the heads out.

Here's mine, made a bracket for the back of the tub.

Yup, but it's a nice way to mount and not have to cut into your body if your looking to keep your truck unmodified.

off rollcage in the back. i prefer inside since they are finicky when they get dirty. i have a cover (quite torn now, but better than nothing) to help keep it clean and greasy ;)

Here is another idea. Aftermarket tube bumper with w/ fabricated spare tire holder with HL jack mount on a swing arm.

Kaymar makes some sweet mounts for roof racks. Mine hold the jack and a shovel. Top off, I did as post #21 and bolt it to the carrier with a threaded shaft. I slide a sleeve over it and welded a nut to the 4 way wrench and spin that on to hold the jack tight .stays nicely.

speakin from experience don't mount it outside the body, mud, snow , gravel road grime just seizes everymoving part then they don't work proper...tried a few locations outside myself ended up bungy cording inside to the rollcage not pretty but it works...just my 02 cents....

I store my Hi Lift in the garage until I go wheeling and then I put it in the back.

Speaking from my experience: I've had the same Hi-lift jack mounted on the front of my FJ40 for over 30 years and never had a problem. (For the first 5 years or so I tried to keep a cover on it, but that just made it rust. Took the cover off and no more rust problem, but the rust never kept it from working either.) Just keep a can of WD-40 handy to spray the pins when you use it.

kaymar bracket in action.. i dont run with my windscreen down (not even when in soft top mode) so its not of great concern where it mounts to the windscreen
