It was fun to get a chance to work the die grinder, then weld some sheet metal and grind again. i was careful to cover everything up with a drop cloth while I worked.

then put the fog lamp switch back in after the primer dried to check it out and adjust the wiring behind. I think the lamp symbol is supposed to face to the left.

Also painted a bunch of stuff today with rattle can epoxy paint. It was satisfying to complete the fuel tank, save for new fuel line tubing

On the wiring scene, I am working on the wires for the amp meter running from the instrument cluster (a three-prong terminal on the back of the cluster, separate from the round main plug in with lots of wires) to the battery. It's connected to the + terminal on the battery on one wire - from there is a short line to a fusible link, and on on the downstream end of the fusible link is the return wire to the amp meter. If the fusible link fails, it would show up at the amp meter. Both wires from the ammeter pass through some inline 5a. fuses, which I chose to locate right near the cluster.

I've got to sort out the fusible link connections pretty quick - there are three in the system.

I've got Sunday and Monday full days to work on the truck, and I'm optimistic about the progress to come. That's my schedule for the next 2-1/2 months - 4 day workweeks and three days to work on the truck. Aiming for May completion.

More inspirational posts HJ.

It's like Christmas seeing new posts here! (and you've been busy!)

Looks great! I like the idea of buying four more OEM 16" steel wheels. They really look awesome sir! Toyota knew what the trucks needed--plain, strong steel wheels and simple grey or silver paint. Turns out it just looks "right."

Love it!

I looked again at the steering damper today and realized that I'd put the mounting tab on backwards. Undid the bolts and reversed it - now the shock alignment is what it should be.

Then I noticed I'd put the drag link end on upside-down yesterday as well (it was just loosely installed), so I flipped that around too.

That seemed like the time to put some more suspension stuff on, so I put the 4x4Labs stuff back on, now freshly coated in epoxy paint. There sure isn't much space between the tie rod and the frame - I hope it won't be a problem. There's not a lot of room regardless, above or below it.

Brought the Tuffy box along. It fit's in okay, once you reverse the mounting on the rear from what was shown in the crude sketch the Tuffy company supplied. The front 'mount' sits in the holes in the floor, but there is no way to attach it - short of fabricating some sort of 'L' bracket to fix it to the bench seat mounting hole. The instructions show no other parts -what are they thinking over there at Tuffy? I'm pretty sure that the kit I ordered from SOR was for '79~'84 models. Anyone reading this who knows how to connect the front mount to the tub?

Well, today was not as productive as I had hoped, yet I still got a few things done. The local Napa let me use their crimper to make up a new + battery cable, which I made with 1 gauge cable and copper end crimps.

I also picked up 10' of Goodyear 5/16" fuel injection tubing, which I will be using as my main fuel line since it is compatible with biodiesel. You can see some new tubing connected to my tank in the second photo, though it turns out that the 5/16" is a little large for the three short fuel separator lines. I guess I need the next size down, and fortunately only about 18" of it (pricey stuff, though not as expensive as the Viton tubing)

I did a little more media blasting, and priming, and hooked up a few more wires. So here's a few more photos:

I know! I know!!
But I won't spoil it for someone else.

Yeah. I'll leave it for the less knowledgeable people too ;)

I've been looking around my engine compartment for the "cap snappler." So far, no luck, which leads me to believe either that 1)mine has been hacked and cut up and removed, or 2)that it is not an engine compartment bracket....

It's like a treasure hunt!

Okay, there's an official hint (underlined above). Great work detective!

Just a wild guess. An interior light bracket of some sort????

I'm kind of thinking the same thing, especially when Henry says:

I wonder when the answer to the puzzle will come to light?

That said, I need to head up to the shop and pull the tarp off of mine (under some snow, of course) now just to root around inside the cab.....
