Would anyone happen to know if there are high quality HIGH profile rear ring gear bolts? (And front I guess too)

I struggled and messed the bolts up taking them off (there was about a 1/10th of a bottle of loctite on each bolt, like almost a jolly rancher’s worth)…

and then when reinstalling, getting these low profile bolts to 101 lbs, my cheap harbor freight 6 point socket began turning over and damaging the bolts again…

So I’m in a position where I have bolts partially torqued and loctited…but had to stop due to tool failure.

I am buying high quality mechanic’s grade sockets before continuing, but if higher profile ring gear bolts exist, I think they’d be worth the purchase price.

O man. That must be frustrating!

Perhaps someone like @bjowett may know?

I don't know if there's such an animal as a high profile bolt. If there isn't, the bolt you need is a 90901-05002 which has been used for decades over many models.

I would get the right socket before trying to find a different bolt. A 6-point socket is going to engage more solidly if you were using a 12pt.

Ran a quick search… There’s a smattering of M12x1.0 flywheel bolts out there, ARP even produces a 12 point version. It will take some research to find something that will work well.

Thank you.

Cruiser outfitters says they only use oem but that nitro may have something.

I ended up using an icon, as opposed to Pittsburgh, socket and was able to easily get all the loctited bolts out-I watched a video on YouTube that measured icon vs snap on and some other lesser brands and the icons consistently came in a thousandth tighter than the snap on…which themselves were 1-2 thousandths tighter than lower quality tools.

Hopefully I won’t need high profile bolts when I torque them all back down.
