Well frustration is at a high level right now...stuck mid-project on three different things...all of them giving me issues one way or another...hopefully will have sorted soon though....

Easy to way to have your mood improve...NOS parts. Got these off of AMZN for $125/ea...felt that was a great price. Probably not necessary...but really wanted to have some new oem gold dials on there (everything else on the exterior has been replaced so figured it made sense).

Have another box of Toyota parts (THANKS ONUR) that are strategically hiding at work so that I can slide them by the :princess: without any questions. (she's been great about everything I've been doing to date, but had asked if there was an end in site to Toyota parts showing up at the house...I said yes, nothing else would be come...technically true since they're getting deliver to my work address.)

Major Nelson....perfect timing...I was just looking into those hubs this morning. price from toyo was too much for me right now. I just wanted the covers and was going to search in the morning but you saved me effort, thanks alot... looking forward to seeing them installed...gil

Pandasfj.

FYI, I ordered them back at the end of Feb...so took a long time for them to come in stock (made sure that Amazon was the seller, I still don't trust 3rd party sellers as much).

I wonder how many guys with 200 series cruisers visit the 60 (or 55 or 40) series forums and realize what they'll need to stock up on in the next few years when the 200 series parts start slowly drying up eventually too. I bet none. & I bet most are oblivious to the fact that their cruiser will be a worthless collection of countless malfunctioning NLA sensors 20 years from now... Sigh.

I think that the 200 series guys (even the 100 and to a lesser extent the 80 series) are not the same breed as 60 and older owners. Not a slam on them at all. I just look at the 60 as the tipping point being where the Land Cruiser's mission/goal changed from a utilitarian vehicle that could go anywhere and take an insane amount of punishment while getting there to one that moved more towards refinement and creature comfort.

I know I'll be driving my 60 20-30 years from now (barring some sort of disaster)....i don't think the later model drivers really have that same mentality...i could be wrong.

Whoa.
Aisin sells the hub dials on Amazon? Interesting.

I figure a 200 customer that stays YOTA loyal will be in a futuristic 400-500 series when we are still having a blast in our 60s years from now...

Wait is usually 1-5 months if not in stock from what I've seen. I think @elkaholic waited 5 plus months for his.

Here you go. You want to get some of the WLS (window locking strip) to replace the chrome inserts. One of the added benefits of the WLS is it creates a better seal for the window gasket. When you install it you'll want to use plenty of silicone lubricating spray. I also found this tool to make the installation go much easier as well. (some people use an old screw driver...I was paranoid I'd gouge the paint or break the glass if I used that method. Let me know if you have more questions on the install. To get the WLS just contact @reevesci, he can get you what you need...great guy to deal with as well. Many have done this...easy and its a huge improvement if you're looking to de-chrome.

Cheers

Should have been more specific. I was talking about the chrome strip on the door below the window. But looking at pics, might be something the 62s have. I will be messaging @reevesci for the WLS

Ah, the window wipes (think that's what they're called). Just give Onur (aka Beno) or CDan a call. they're OEM replacement and as far as I know still available.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. My list of parts keeps getting longer.

Hah! Yep. I've made at least 5 "last time" orders for more parts by this point....and probably have more $ in NOS parts than I paid for the FJ60 in the first place...all worth it though.

This thread is awesome. I also removed my chrome surrounds from the windows but never filled the gap with the strip u speak of above. The rear windows had it in there already. Only the windshield is missing it. I must order.

ok, how far the rabbit hole should I continue? My biggest concern is getting too far in and then realizing I'm screwed in trying to get it back together. Looking for any advice on this that people have for me.

I pulled the dash to do the radio...now that I have the dash off to install the new radio I got the "while I'm under here" syndrome hit pretty bad. (that and watching the awesome work Onur is doing on his rig). Decided I was going to try and copy the work he's doing. Only issue for me is I don't have nearly the knowledge of him...and I'm continually concerned I'm going to break something that's NLA. (done it twice and has made me super jumpy)

-Have the heater ducts removed to wash and warp with new foam...pretty nasty.

- Started pulling the lower instrument panel for easier access...got to where I have only two bolts left....of course the ones that are right above the steering column - is it worth dropping the column to get this out?

-I really would like to address the entire HVAC system (now or never I guess). Is this stuff pretty straight forward in removing? Blower motor and housing was first up. Anything to watch out for in removing? It looks like there are just three bolts and the connecting wire from the heater controls. Whats best to use to clean off the glue residue from the old foam? @beno any suggestions?

-Evaporator...worth pulling as well? do I have to have the lower instrument panel off for this?

I used a regular glue remover.... Acetone based IIRC.

IMO, remove and clean everything you can while everything is torn apart.

You will thank yourself later.
