I'm John, a bit old. I have a '76 FJ40 that I've had for about 25 years. 2nd owner and the 1st owner was a friend. I remember when he got it. It's basically stock, but rusty. Everything is pretty much intact. It has a Warn 8274 winch which was on it when I got it and I added Warn lockout hubs. I haven't driven it for a couple of years but I'll fire it up this weekend, hopefully. It's got around 67k miles on it. Can't think of anything else at the moment so... I'll post the build date and VIN on that other thread.

Here it is...

Welcome to MUD!

Wow, sounds just like me. Same first name, (relatively) old but don't feel like it most days, '76 FJ40 owner for about 16 years. FJ40 body needs work, mostly original, runs better with a few upgrades (power steering, FJ60 electronic ignition, oil cooler, H41 low-ratio 4-speed with 3-speed transfer case, Warn 8274, etc.). Got it fixed up good enough to tackle some of the tough trails around Ouray, CO last week at the Solid Axle Summit. Mainly having a lot of fun with it.

Enjoy your '76. A lot of great help available on MUD.

IMHO. There are plenty of minty resto jobs out there. Save it drive it. You got a find there already got the old girl outa the pasture

I'm with Burbot. Nothing wrong with a 40 series with true character. My goal is to have two: One that kinda looks like yours and one to do a frame off resto on.

Welcome, I'm looking forward to the rebirth of another legend.
